Veteran’s Day

knew an old guy in the 80's. he was 96 at the time and didn't get money from the goverment. supplemented his poverty by picking up iron from old machinery and selling it to scrap yards(at 96) always called him mr longenbaugh. from senneca,mo. in ww1 he was in charge of teaching young men on how to shoot a rifle. told me that on the boat ride to europe men were stacked on wooden bunks below deck and kept there. lived in puke and shit buckets the entire ride. never got over the smell. one of the best men i've ever known. told me stories from the 1800's cowboys and indians, GOD BLESS
think of him every armistice day
