Vasectomy advice

Having last kid in Oct. Wife said she would have her tubes tied if need be but if something went wrong I would never hear the end of it. I volunteered to get a vas so I can hold it over head forever. Need advice of where the best place to go is and how bad does it hurt? Also is there a chance I will never get a boner again after surgery? Thanks
