Vandeberg broken foot

Iowa's surefire go to receiver. That is sad no chance to position for another season.

Well if they can get to the BIG championship game, which would also mean they make a bowl game, then that's 14 games. 4/14 is 28%'ish. So, he would be under the 30% rule. No idea if he has used five seasons, yet. But, he would be eligible to apply for a sixth year in that case. As it stands, 4 out of 13 (assuming bowl game) is 30.77%. As Agent Smart would say: "Missed it by that much." In any event, what figured to be a tough season for Hawkeye fans just got tougher.

Perhaps you have researched this, but I recall the NCAA 30% rule as applied to football includes regular season schedule only.

I believe you are right. I doubt Iowa fans and coaches have much faith in the NCAA after Drew Ott.

Same situation as Ott in that he never redshirted. Ott played in 5 games I believe and Matt has played in 4. Kirk said they will petition and thinks they have a chance. (Heard that before).

Matt VandeBerg is the type of player any program would enjoy. From greyshirt Prospect to first-year scholarship receipient, who arrived and made field Game 1. He was targeted Day 1 of his arrival by his QB.

Next Man In for Iowa

Like Drew Ott, his career at Iowa is likely over based on it being his fourth year and having played 4 games.

Another concern for them is protecting their QB. It seems every time I turn to watch a few drives he's being scraped off the turf.

And now with his go to WR out, theirs a real chance Beathard will over exert himself. Which may lead to yet another injury..
