For all youse guys saying you'll have to be vaccinated to enter buildings, how do you see that being proven? ID, phone app, or tattoo on your forehead?
When I need to board our dog, our veterinarian prints out a vaccination record and signs it, and the kennel keeps it on file. I'm hopeful that people doctors might also have access to this technology.

So your grocery store, gas station & beauty parlor will keep your personal vac record "on file"?

Did I say anywhere that I expect grocery stores, gas stations or beauty parlors to require vaccinations? I don't.

My question did.
Sorry, when I read "youse guys saying you'll need to be vaccinated to enter buildings," I thought that meant the buildings I actually said would require vaccinations. If you want to have an argument with yourself over whether grocery stores and gas stations will require vaccinations, be my guest.

Uh huh....or, it could be our biggest....
Most adults already have driver's licenses and a fair number also have passports. And just about every citizen has a social security number. If you're worried about big brother being able to identify you, it's too late. They can track you down via cellphone, as I suspect some foreign governments can as well.

I would guess some businesses would ask you to present proof, but the main ones will be place of work, schools, and probably churches, since they would want their parishioners as comfortable as possible to come back to church and tithe abundantly.

If the virus is still active after people start getting the vaccine, I would bet sports venues and concerts would require proof as well. But that would be down the road after numerous people have received the vaccine.

Exactly. Just about every major employer will require you to have taken that vaccine to work there. Same with attending school. So, don't take it and be by yourself.
I think that is unlikely. They may offer it as a health benefit but widespread requirements for immunization are unlikely. It will likely be required in health care settings but beyond that I think it will be suggested but not mandatory. IMO, it would be foolish to require it in children under the age of 10 in order to attend school. I believe that there will have to be state laws passed in each state in order for a public school to mandate vaccination of students. I think Congress would get too much blow back if they tried to codify mandatory COVID vaccinations for school kids.

id be surprised if we see innoculation rates high enough to get the desired results.
We're not going to "kill it off" with vaccination alone. WAY too many people are going to refuse to take it. Many of them will either have employers who don't require it or be self employed. Hell we've got tens of millions of illegal aliens in this country. How are you going to force them to get vaccinated? We don't even screen them for TB which kills millions of people. Nobody is going to drag Uncle Joe screaming and kicking to the goolag if he doesn't get vaccinated.

As I said earlier in this thread, you can refuse it but you will likely be denied participation and/or entry into many places and events without proof of vaccination. That's how you get people to participate.

Yes that also means those "independent" business people won't be able to do a lot of things outside of home and work. It's a myth that they're totally independent of everything in life.

Uncle Joe will just say he forgot and everyone will believe him.
I just have to look around the community I live in and I can easily come up with 20-30% of the people I know who wouldn't get a vaccination for this thing. Good luck trying to force Sandhill ranchers and western South Dakotans to get vaccinated. You might get shot at the mere suggestion of it. At the very least maybe drug behind a horse through the prickly pear.

Do we require proof of a TB test or flu vaccination to go to a basketball game at NU? By the time we get the 40% of people vaccinated this infection will probably be less common than the flu and no more serious for most low risk people than the flu.

Damn. My wife who treats COVID patients every damned day marvels at the stupidity and panic of some people about this thing. She still says by the time January rolls around the flu is going to a be a bigger problem for her to deal with than this bug. She says the college kids getting COVID now are the lucky ones. They're getting it over with. I said it months ago. College athletes should have been having COVID parties to get the damned thing to get it over with. >99.99% of them would have been over it in less than a week and would have been good to go for school.

Well, in the State of Massachusetts they currently are requiring all students to get flu vaccinations before they can return to school. You don't think they will do the same for Covid-19 including other people beyond school kids?

And I'm willing to bet some states will require would be visitors to quarantine if you want to enter that state without being able to provide proof of vaccination.

But we'll see. Maybe I'll be proven wrong about all that required vaccination stuff. Message board debates won't decide the issue and personally it won't matter to me whether it happens or not because I'm going to get vaccinated assuming an effective safe vaccine makes it through the FDA hurdles.

As I posted, it will likely take legislation by each state to require vaccination and vaccinating kids who are at extremely low risk of becoming ill from or spreading the virus seems pretty draconian.

Within a few months I really think this thing is going to not be a huge deal anymore. My spouse is WAY more concerned about the upcoming flu season. Way more kids will die of flu this year than COVID.

IF you live in a Blue State, get ready for a shot in the ass whether you want it or not. You'll be jailed if you can't prove that you got it. There will be video like we saw out of China where the police were dragging people out of their apartments for breaking the rules..Winking

I just read an article quoting an infectious disease specialist from Yale University. He says this virus will be with us indefinitely because of the high number of asymptomatic carriers. He doesn't believe that vaccination will "eradicate it". What will happen is that it is going to become much less common AND virtually ALL of the people who are at risk of dying from it will be vaccinated. We're not going to have to show vaccination proof and it is highly unlikely that vaccination will be mandated on a national level for every citizen. I think that's just ludicrous talk. Once we have some degree of population immunity either through vaccination or natural exposure this will just be like another strain of flu in how it's handled.

I obviously don't know your wife and no disrespect to her but maybe she should consider replacing Dr. Fauci. Winking

Then I hope you have a lot of money to lawyer up, because your place of work will tell you to hit the bricks.

Not totally true, Anyone can deny vaccinations for religious reasons and that has been upheld by the state and federal supreme court. There are three vaccinations out of the 20 some that a person is "Supposed" to get that I will not let my children get until they become adults and then its up to them. The school asked for their records and when they saw the three missing we filled out some paperwork and signed it and they were good to go.

You will have to show me where Fauci has suggested that you'll need a "proof of vaccination" card to get in to sports venues OR that vaccination will be mandated nationally. Once we get medical personnel, first responders who want it AND high risk patients vaccinated this thing becomes pretty small potatos.

My spouse gets daily communication from the CDC and the state health department. Fauci while a very likeable guy is not the author of all intelligence about COVID. He's a career bureaucrat who isn't actually out working in the field any more. His level of surprise at some of the developments along the way and lack of consideration for the mental health of our citizens is concerning. Just heard from a couple of liquor distributors who said that this has been their best quarter BY FAR ever for alcohol sales.

The death rate for this once we get most people over 50 vaccinated for this will drop to levels akin to or below influenza. From there it will be your own damned decision to get vaccinated. Do we do anything similar to what you suggest for the flu? No. The good news is that what we're hearing is that some people who refuse to get flu shots will actually consent to a COVID vaccination.

OK, the comment about your wife was just a poor attempt at humor. Didn't mean to offend anyone!

I'm sure there are many different views out there and personally, I'm glad about that, because I like diversity of opinion.
