USA Today: Paterno Told of Sandusky Sex Abuse in 1976

Poor Joe Pa. Just let him be. He was such a good coach. Why do people want to tarnish him so?

Boo Hoo Boo Hoo.

I would still like to see the other Three Stooges charged in this case do some prison time, but I doubt they ever will. Seems Graham Spanier just "can't recall" exchanging emails about how to sweep Sandusky's actions under the rug. So even though the emails exist and were entered into evidence, we should just let bygones be bygones.

Spanier case drags on and on

I am soooo happy the truth is finally coming out about Paterno. I am a Nebraskan who has lived in PA since 1994. The PSU fans out here are disgusting pigs. I hate to be petty and vindictive over such a serious thing as child abuse, but I can't help it. The emotional satisfaction I am going to get rubbing their noses in this will be enormous. I still remember the crap I took in 1995 from these goons over the Lawrence Phillips thing. They were self righteous asshats proclaiming how Saint Paterno would never be as corrupt as the hypocrite Osborne.

No secrets can be kept today. This generation especially. Noones perfect, but some of us are WAY worse than others. Some people may not be imprisoned on earth for what they have done, but they have something way worse coming for them in the afterlife. Can't hide there, coach.

I don't believe he will need ti hide.

I was reading snarky comments from message posters on OSU and Michigan boards about Sandusky and his affection for little boys two years before it officially came to light. So my question is this, and it's really simple...If message board posters knew of Sandusky's issues, are you going to sit there with a straight face and tell me JoPa didn't know even earlier than that? Of course he knew, and he did the least amount possible going forward so he could say with a straight face that he at least did something.

Anything short of dragging that asshole straight into the police station, and demanding they lock him up before he beat the shit out of him is laughable.
But no, Joepa kept him in the fold and gave him a safe haven to continue serial child rape for decades. Any spin on that is laughable. Everybody with half a brain knows it.

Gotta have that top notch defensive coordinator to win. Joe didn't have a choice but to help out a friend for 40 plus years.

40+ years!!!!!!!!!!!
Imagine how many boys were raped!
Cause if you think it started in 1976 you're a fool!

I heard the rumors prior to Sandusky's arrest and didn't call the police.

Did you?

Make sure to read the linked article:

http://www.pennlive.com/news/2016/05/court_filing_says_joe_paterno.html

The Paterno family attorney says, ..."Joe Paterno did not, at any time, cover up conduct by Jerry Sandusky."

That statement could be true. You could also argue that you could change the words "cover up", to "did damn near nothing regarding the conduct of Jerry Sandusky."
Does a mob boss do his own killing? Or does his people do what's good for the family?
Rot in hell JoePa!

Still can't understand the sanctions being lifted.

We'll see if Jimmy Franklin can really make something happen at PSU. If not in a few years, I could see him moving on.

What JoePa enabled is unthinkable....that piece of shite was every bit as bad as Sandusky. I wish he was alive to reap it.

"Through all of this review there has never been any evidence of inappropriate conduct by Coach Paterno. To the contrary, the evidence clearly shows he shared information with his superiors as appropriate."

A lawyer made that statement? So, we are to believe appropriate conduct = keeping your buddy, who you know is a pederast, employed for umpteen years and allowing him to use the schools facilities to play with boys. Stupid is as stupid does.

Actually, I did not know. Because I had no connections to that cess pool. But good for you for making one of the most idiotic posts on the history of rivals.
Keep defending a sick piece of shit that helped cover up serial child rape, you must get your rocks off on it.

How Penn State is allowed to have a football program is beyond me? This goes beyond the death penalty because it was orchestrated at the highest levels of the program and the University. The players should be allowed to transfer immediately and they should just shut it down and throw away the key.

The lifting of sanctions is about the fact after SMU - the NCAA realized they can never use the death penalty again in football. No matter how bad the offense. They are more worried about staying in power and making money (which includes protecting the brand of their high viability teams - if PSU was gutted by sanctions and took decades to recover.....NCAA also suffers a $$$ hit). Piss off enough teams and conferences - and they form their own league. NCAA is more scared of that then a child rape scandal.

Sympathize with you for having to endure PSU fans on a routine basis. My experience there at the rigged game in 82 still stinks in my memory. Fan treatment was deplorable. Something about JoPa was always suspicious to me. Even when he had the "saint Jo coach" personna I believed him to be a slime. He proved us right in 94 with his colossal bitching about the system. He was supposedly TO's "friend' at the time of the LP debacle, but would not utter a word of support. Only Bobby Bowden spoke up in Tom's defense. BTW, do they still have the '94 national champ statue in Happy Valley? What a joke.

I did not defend anybody 4.6.3.

If you disagree please elaborate using text from my original post.

I look forward to being dazzled by your illuminating insight.

Yes 4.6.3 we all hate child molesters. Duh.

My question was mostly rhetorical and not directed at you specifically.

It was more commentary on the posturing on this thread.

There were many people in this whole sordid affair dropped the ball here not just JoePa.

Would you be so outraged if it was the HC from Montana State University?

Why no outrage for the police chief of the happy valley PD? Surely he had seen the internet rumors.

Why no calls for drawing and quartering of this child's parents? Surely he told them.

Nary a word from a single poster. No, not one.

Is it possible the hand wringing here is because it is JoePa and Penn State?

Seeing otherwise reasonable adults standing on a pile of molested children spouting their moral outrage for the sake of CFB partisanship is at best unseemly...just sayin'

Oh and please keep your mind and grubby keyboard hands off my rocks...sicko.

Hey numbnuts.... I have made it perfectly clear in the past that anybody involved can burn in hell. Joe pa was a very public figure, and the head man on campus. He claims he didn't know, or merely forwarded info quietly (and never inquired after the fact).
So you can stop with your bullshit. I don't get who they are or where they are from. Child molersters, and the equally sick ****s that enable them should all be bleached from the gene pool. No matter how much posturing and spins you can come up with, that will never change.

I was at the 2002 game and the behavior of PSU fans towards us was beyond atrocious. And it wasn't just drunk frat boys. Grown men and women with children were yelling obscenities at us. My daughter, who was only 8, and wearing a Crouch jersey, had a coke thrown in her face by an older man. Only the intervention of my wife kept me from decking the dude. I think they are the worst fans in college football.

Numbnuts?

Just what is this preoccupation that you have with other posters' testicles?

If I am 12 what does that make you?

Not surprised you chose to take that sexually. Now back to your regular posting of ignorant accusations that people don't like a chi-mo because of where they are from.

In my opinion Joe Pa is like some of those old sweet old bank clerks. Always nice, knows how to do everything, works hard, never takes a vacation. There's a reason why she does this, it's because she's stealing the bank blind.

IMO Joe Pa stayed around to keep to keep a lid on all this.

Not doing anything of substance when he found out a long time ago was wrong. Letting it continue is sick.

Just mind-blowing to think of all the kids that were sexually assaulted by that monster AFTER he was caught red-handed and the whole thing was swept under the rug to protect the whole 'Happy' Valley cult. By staying silent, or doing minimal effort, the powers-that-be gave their stamp of approval on the practice and determined it to be 'worth the expense.' Spanier, Schulz and Curley (and more) should all be in jail for the rest of their lives.

I wasn't sure if you were trying to use some really poorly placed sarcasm in your original post.......or if you were a giant effing douche. Thanks for the follow up post to clarify that for all of us.

You quoted 4.6.3 and then asked "did you?" Nice try but that's directed at him specifically.

Yes we would be outraged if it were the head coach at Montana state IF the fans, ex players and any others with ties to Montana State defended the coach as much as penn state fvcks did.

Plenty of flack went to the police chief here.

You don't know much about victims of child abuse do you? Very rarely is that reported to parents but nice try.

Uhm are you suggesting posters back in the 70s should have come out and said something? I know we are in Nebraska and get things later than the coasts sometimes but I'm pretty sure the internets hadn't hit mainstream back when this was being reported as happening.

See the Montana state reference.

Oh and when something comes out soon about Harbaugh and his mental state, we'll be wringing our hands just as much. Laughing

New report out tonight that up to 6 former coaches witnessed events with Sandusky abusing kids.
But I am sure "nobody knew anything" and "reported it to the authorities"

I'm sure when you tell that story some people think you are embellishing or flat out lying. I was there for that game. I have followed NU all over the country. Penn St was the only place I have ever been spit on. Penn St is the only place I have ever had someone throw anything at me, let alone an aluminum can (it was empty thank God). It wasn't a few bad apples either, it was hundreds and thousands of hostile, unfriendly, vulgar people. I hate their fanbase even though I know some good PSU fans. They are the kind of people that make society ugly in general, and college football ugly sometimes in particular.
