UNO 2 UNL 1 Top 6

Bobby Herald is a heck of a coach. Hopefully UNL can turn it around.

Bob Herold is a hell of a coach and great guy to go along with it. Would be a huge win for him.

I like UNO's program, but am all Husker. Schrieber with a bomb in the 10th for the Huskers to go up 1.

There are 6 breeds. Mavs, Jays, Huskers, Jayskers, Mavskers, and Mavjays. Am I missing any?

No, just respect their coach. I'm not a spineless douche and pull for 2 teams that compete with each other because of a change in the breeze.

just call them fans .....its fun to support the states d1 teams...Frozen Four and Spring "game" next week should be a blast

A grind-out game. UNO is a tough team, they will have a good season. Next up Maryland in College Park for the weekend. Will be a tough weekend, but would be awesome to get 2 of 3 out east.

In some ways, losing to UNO would be worse than losing to Creighton. Sure, you don't have to deal with annoying Mavskers like you do with Jayskers, but if losing to Creighton is like losing to your annoying little brother, then losing to UNO would be like losing to your baby brother.

So respecting Bob Herold is OK (btw, he's a friend of my wife's family), but respecting the Creighton basketball program for its accomplishments over the past 50 years is a crime worthy of the death penalty?

Got it.

So, anyone that pulls for both teams is a "spineless douche"?

These are 2 teams that compete with each other now...as in the last 4 years, for the first time in both of their respective histories.

I've spent my entire life rooting for both programs. One has always been the face of the state nationally and essentially a cultural birthright for everyone in this state. The other is a school I chose to attend and rooted for on the division II level for years.

I don't have to pick between the two now just because they are now both in the same division and occasionally play in a couple of sports...and because a few message board trolls have decided it's not allowed.

Mavsker for life. Suck it long, suck it hard.

Spineless douche? Completely untrue, I assure you I have a spine.
Well then you can't join our club! If you're just a douche that roots for the Mavs....the line is over there ------>

I was referring to Jays fans. The ones that change with the breeze or season. Pulling for Uno is akin to following UNK. Pretty harmless. Huskerjack is the one most offended because he cheers against the Husker teams until its football season.

Wrongo, internet breath!!

I have no problem with people rooting for multiple schools in the state. Honestly, whether it's Nebraska/Creighton, Nebraska/UNO, Creighton/UNO, it's fine with me as long as you're consistent about it. These rivalries are mostly fabricated fan contrivances.

What I do dislike are the people who root for Nebraska in football (probably referring to the team as "we" in the process), but then claim to hate the basketball team because of their love for another school (typically Creighton). They are typically the ones also trying to fuel these pseudo rivalries.

I root for Nebraska in all sports and as an alum, I root for UNO in everything. On those rare occasions NU and UNO meet head to head, I typically cheer for UNO. That doesn't mean I'm rooting against Nebraska or revel in them losing to UNO. I just have to pick, and I'll typically go with the underdog and a school that I happen to have a deeper attachment to. Still, as soon as Nebraska beat UNO last night, I could appreciate their effort and move on rooting for both teams.

I just don't think a person can claim to love one sport within an athletic program and hate another. Those things just don't mesh if you ask me. I could never hate any team wearing a logo I claim to love.

Must be why you always slam Husker hoops when you bother to even talk about, all while gushing over the Jays and getting butthurt when someone calls you out. It's ok if you want to, and that means I will continue to poke fun at your "loyalties"

I guess you've missed the point with my posts.

That's pretty common with internet censors who have an agenda.

I'll repeat it once again. Be sure to read it slowly...I have respect for the accomplishments of the Creighton basketball program over the past 50 years.

I wish NU basketball could get there.

Butthurt = 4.6.3
