Had to look that up. The University of Mary is a four-year Catholic university near Bismarck, North Dakota. The university is the largest degree granting institution in Bismarck. Total enrollment (2010): 3,084. Notable alumni: Tim Miles (first mention).

Is that why we're playing them? Miles association? Or are they just an early warm-up school?

Game is tonight on BTN Plus @ 7 CT

Edit: Tonight's game is not on BTN2Go. It's only on BTN Plus, which is an extra subscription cost. If you don't have that you can listen live to the game on the athletic department's official site.

Each program is allowed two exhibition contests per season. Most schools play local D2 programs. Some schools even play NAIA programs. The smaller schools receive a "pay out" and travel expenses paid. Miles is clearly throwing his Alma Mater a "bone."

Thanks for the clarification. UofMary is an NCAA D-II school. Wild wacky stuff...

So this is an exhibition and won't be part of our record? Is it normal to play an exhibition after you have started playing regular season games?

Was just informed that I won't be listening to the game tonight. Wife signed us up for a focus group for a new movie release. Sucks as I've come down with a cold. Would rather stay home and listen (no BTN Plus) to the game.

It counts in our record, but it actually helps our RPI to play them rather than a 275-300 RPI team because it also doesn't coutn as a win toward the RPI or tournament games (the 275-300 games being a net negative all the way around).

Pluses and minuses. It's obviously Miles throwing his alma mater a bone. Plus he can play our 2nd teamers and still win by 40. It's a way to get them to gel before the real games start against dayton in a few days. Our schedule is a grinder, so it's not a horrible idea if a little unconventional.

I wouldn't count on a 40 pt win.
