According to Christopherson in the LJS, add Tyrin Ferguson to the list of true freshmen who will play this year. Also apparently confirmed on Ferguson's twitter feed.

With walk-on Chris Weber missing most of fall camp with an injury, Ferguson has added 20 pounds and taken over the backup MLB spot.

"He's hungry to learn," linebackers coach Trent Bray said of Ferguson. "He's always in my office trying to learn something new. He's talking to the older players about how he can do things better. So whenever you have that kind of attitude, you're going to improve faster than other people."

Between the early maturation of the 2015 class and the film of the current 2016 linebacker commits, I expect linebacker to be a position where we have both quality and depth, fairly soon.

Do they redshirt Barry and Talan? If they want to play turn em loose on special teams while they are learning the defense..

I think you have to redshirt at least one of Barry and Talan. Both look like WLB/Special teams players at this point in their career, and it sounds like right now Young is starting at WLB, with both Newby and Gifford ahead of either Barry or Talan there. From reports, Gifford has really surprised in how well he's taken to linebacker and he's gone from a disappointment at safety to a real keeper at WLB.

Do you play a WLB who's 4th or 5th string at that position? I'd say only if they're really just a beast on special teams, or if there's some outside the lines reason to play them. I can't imagine we're short enough on special teams players that we need both Barry and Talan for kick coverage.

I think Talan is the most likely to RS. Barry has a good shot at non-ST PT, even though he was late to camp.

Ferguson needs to #redshirt. This will become apparent against miami.

Agreed. Bray appears to be a strong recruiter and should have a full pantry in the coming years.

Well, sure, ideal world we have enough scholarship LB on the roster to redshirt him.

In this world, with Weber hurt, I'm glad Ferguson is stepping up. I don't expect to see him playing a large number of snaps against Miami if Banderas is healthy in any case.

Unfortunately, neb. may not have a choice but to have him play this yr.

Hey Kevin, I just realized that you may need technical help for posting your recruiting board. Ask away! Somebody on here will be able to help. Looking forward to seeing them.

If you're so confident in your recruiting analysis, you should take it over to the Red Sea Scrolls. You should move in with the Big Boys.

If you can't afford it, then maybe you should consider another line of work.

Tyrin Ferguson was my top recruit in this class. And as for the Miami comments... Its slightly silly. As a back up Middle Linebacker, his primary role will be a run stopper up the middle and a blitzer. IN this scheme, he will also occasionally drop back in Cover 2, but his coverage responsibilities will be limited.

Considering his roles as a MIKE Linebacker, if he's "not ready" it would actually be more problematic vs. BYU. The Cougars are going to illustrate more power runs and a much stronger rushing attack with the zone read and use of Hbacks/ and some times 2 half backs behind Hill.

Miami will try to run the football, but they will stretch the perimeter on try to get to the edge with more outside zone stuff.

Good analysis. I believe miami will be more problematic for Ferguson due to their athleticism. Miami athletes>BYU.

Will be fun to watch and see how our predictions roll out. MIKE LB has high amnt of calls and responsibilities and alignments and I believe his inexperience will be exposed

He will have his ups and downs, but what should I expect out there from a true freshman? I'm just hoping he has more ups than downs.

I`m not comfortable releasing them as they are contributed to a larger effort/publication. Thanks.
Just give up the charade. You expose your lack of knowledge the more you try to carry it out. Just be a fan and leave it at that. IF at some point you develop the cred that Cornicator has shown you can run with it. Until then, just stop.

So when you came on here a couple months ago downplaying every new recruit, you stated that you are just starting to focus on recruiting. Then you claimed to have a "recruiting board". Then you said you would share it. Then you refuse to do so and ignore most who ask. Now you claim to have your board as some part of a larger publication (all of this after you just started following recruiting, in your words). All the while it is noticeable that you post info from a website infested with blo-ners that believe the program is purposely being tanked by the A.D. in Wisconsin. You also take every opportunity to dump on the coaches who have not even coached a game here yet.
I mean, there is no way you are a troll. Sounds like you are on the up and up.

What coaches did I dump on? This`ll be fun.

And what website is this that you speak of? This`ll be fun too.

I had stated I was able to focus more on recruiting with camps, etc. occurring

Not a charade. I haven`t really noticed, in general, any particular person to show more credibilty than others. I view all people the same

Happy that a number of true freshmen are standing out but let's be honest ... Playing a lot of true freshmen is not a recipe for success and speaks just as much to the depth and talent of the roster predating their arrival on campus as to the talent of said freshmen. May struggle early if we are relying on a number of true freshmen at key positions ... ie LB
