An interesting take and one with which I am in agreement. Reading between the lines it seems to me that what you are predicting is that we are at least returning to beating the teams we have equal or better talent with, but losing to the teams that still outclass us in talent and player development. Just curious... would you predict a win over Iowa rather than a loss if the game were to be in Lincoln?

Would you do me a solid and change that OU game to a win please? My son and I want to go and it would be most awesome if we could pull that one out. TIA!!!!

That list looks solid to me and I'd predict the same.....even the OU game.

8-2 going into Wisconsin at home…I like that.

My thing is to go into pods to predict the record(especially with a weak team like Nebraska).

W(5): if northwestern, North Dakota, Georgia southern, Indiana, Rutgers

Toss-ups(good teams win half): Purdue, Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin, iowa

Losses(2): oklahoma, Michigan

Looks like 8-4 to me as well. That being said, if Farmer is starting at safety vs 4 of those toss-ups(the teams that will run the sh!t out of the ball), then count those as losses and Nebraska is 7-5 at the very best.

The stretch from Indiana to Minny - I can't see us winning all of those in a row. I'm hopeful we beat OU though and are 3-0 going into that stretch. If we lose game #1 though, put us down for 4-8 (or worse) again.

Yikes if you are a Indiana football fan! Ending the season on a 9 game losing streak would not bode well for Tom Allen’s future employment in Bloomington. GBR !

Biggest risk of loss on game predicted as win - NW. If we can't get all the new parts, systems to gel right out of the gate in a strange setting.

Biggest chance for win on game predicted as loss - OU. Lots of change with OU - Frost is due to outcoach a first year coach at some point, isn't he?

As good of a prediction as any I have seen. I don't necessarily agree but my thoughts are no more valid.

With the history of this staff I have a hard time trusting they won't lose a close game they should win so I would predict 7-5.

It's crazy to think that Farmer being one of our better ball hawking guys also happens to be one of our weakest trackers. Frustrating!

This whole season (assuming we win game 1 of course), will come down to that stretch of games @Rutgers, @Purdue, Illinois, and Minnesota. All games we could and probably should win, but games we have managed to loose often the last couple years.

Yeah, it definitely starts with NW week 1. Beat a team you're supposed to beat right out of the gates already! Sets the tone for the rest of the season...

Need to factor momentum into this. An 8-1 team, or 9-0 team heading to UM ranked, most likely close to top 10, SHOULDNT sh#t the bed and lose all of the last games. Especially WI at home, and Iowa. NU will be a hot team. Now, will that momentum translate to a couple wins? No idea.

This all looks amazing to me, but I will believe it when I see it. I had a nightmare that the season opener went really really bad. It wasnt against NW, but some no name team, and we struggled. Thinking McNeese St a couple years ago. That kind of game. hoping it wasnt an omen.

The last time we were in that scenario (2016), 7-0 with a #7 national ranking quickly turned into 9-4 and unranked by season's end. While I certainly hope they start and finish strong, I don't have a lot of confidence that a strong start means they will finish that way, and all the "find ways to lose" demons have been exorcised.

I can see that 8-4 record. The main thing it represents is NU would be back to beating the teams it SHOULD beat, and that's a start.

I thought the same. Hard to imagine us not stubbing our toe somewhere along the way. We’ve never managed to be that consistent going back a really long time. Not that the past determines the present, but coming from our gutter status with a lot of new puzzle pieces worked in, it’s hard to imagine a consistent performance all year.

Can’t lose to Northwestern. Losing to Illinois last year was brutalizing for our season.

I don't see us losing 3 in a row either. Wisconsin should be a win, they have a new staff, Oklahoma could also be a win for the same reason. Michigan is probably a loss, and Iowa is a tossup. I could see us losing an upset to Illinois though.

We really need to beat both Wisconsin and Iowa this year and moving forward.

We better be able to stop the run when we play Wisconsin.

Why would we all of a sudden be able to not have a three game losing streak? That has been the one constant for the past 4 years!

Huskers beat the crap out of Northwestern last year. Start the season with a W, unlike a loss to Illinois last year, and go from there. Just beat Northwestern Have a pint of Guinness on the way back, and go from there.

Since 2011, Nebraska has more wins at Iowa, then in Lincoln in Iowa series.

Fwiw

Wisconsin is gonna suck on D

Losing the last three games would put Scott Frost in jeopardy of being fired. I think the win total is correct but I think the sequence is a bit off. I think the team will build some momentum as the season progresses unless this team is devastated by injury at the end, then your sequence might be correct.

First, thank you for doing this - solid, easy to read format. My thoughts.

1) I believe Michigan St may regret the Fort Knox extension to Mel Tucker.
2) I hope Ohio St destroys Notre Dame. OSU will win the conference this year.
3) Wisconsin has questions but that early schedule of cupcakes will allow them to figure it out.
4) Northwestern has "maybe" two wins in their bag and Nebraska won't be one of them.
5) I see Iowa at 7-5 this year. They have some holes to fill and their QB isn't doing them any favors.
6) Row the boat dick will start to lose his team this year and they will be lucky to end the season at .500.
6) Remember all the oohs and ahhs about Tom Allen a couple of years ago? Ouch!
7) Rutgers will be better than Tuco'z prediction and the Nebraska game will be much tougher than people think.
8) I think Penn St beats Auburn.
9) Illinois could be a problem if that phat phuk HC is able to establish a ground game and some D.
10) Nebraska could go 4-8 or 9-3. The last 6 games are against teams they lost to last year. I have some hope but only to the tune of 6-6.

Which game do you see them winning?
I don’t wager but suspect Hoosiers aren’t favored in any of those games. If TA is 4-16 over last 2 years heading into brutal final 4 game stretch curious if Indiana makes a in season change? I believe the current AD did not hire Allen.

He has a very substantial buyout and the current AD is focus on basketball since that is all their fans care about. I'd be shocked if Allen was gone after this year.

That is true. Indiana is a blue blood in basketball. I have lived in Indiana. Basketball in Indiana is like football in Nebraska and Texas. It's like a religion.

Not sure I'd call them a blue blood anymore since every recruit being recruited has seen them as the 2nd best program in the state, but their fans care way more about basketball. Iu basketball is to Nebraska football in my mind. Except Nebraska has been relevant way more recent.

They are most definitely a blue blood. They just need the right coach and they would dominate Indiana basketball easily. Nothing personal against Purdue.

NW game is everything. Win that and look like they now what they are doing - it could be a positive year.
