Just competent will win us so many more games. It would not have taken the hire of the century for this team to have won 8 games. We sit around debating the Rhules, Deboers, and Kliemans of the world, but each one would have won this game today going away. I know that isn't the ultimate goal, but dam.

I wouldn't hold my breath. I have doubts about his "process." I think he's had more than one denial already. The situation in the NU athletic department, and administration in general, is quite grim.
We have not hit rock bottom. We will have some years coming up where we will not win a single game. The sell out streak will continue and posts will be made about our up and coming talent.

Mickey as a head coach has not earned that respect. If not a former Husker, nobody would give a shit whether he stays or goes. Plain and simple.
What respect? He is the interim coach. It isn't disrespectful to announce who the head coach is if you got him. Nobody cried last year when Texas tech hired their coach while the interim coach was finishing the season. An interim coach is just that a placeholder for the remainder of the season. Most likely the coach is still currently coaching a team so you have to wait for his season to wrap up before announcing.

This ^^ 100%. It IS THE PROBLEM!! In the case of the O-line especially!! It is total garbage 5 years running. Greg Austin had no business, NO BUSINESS being a coach here for four years. They could not identify any talent, could not develop what was brought in even. This unit alone is the primary reason why we haven’t been bowling for 5 years. Nothing but incompetence, false starts, holding, boneheaded play. Flush the ENTIRE roster because they cannot win!!
It could have felt even worse today had we somehow gotten to 5 wins and this 14-15 loss meant no bowl game. Still... it sure feels like rock bottom.
I don’t believe we would have made a bowl even if we won our last 2 games and finished 5-7..

I suppose one could argue that rock bottom is zero wins, but yeah. Northwestern's only win is against Nebraska.
I'm honestly surprised we even have a win against an FBS opponent this year. Barely eeked out the win against UND. And we all know how that GSU game went.
I would say we are currently in competition with Northwestern (who beat us) for the most pathetic FBS school in the NCAA. And that's not hyperbole - I truly believe we are possibly the worst team.
It is understandable that it happens at Northwestern, seeing as they are basically a pseudo-Ivy League school that puts its focus on academia. Nebraska is not that.
In short, we should never be in competition with Northwestern for most pathetic FBS football program.
If it’s Rhule, I’d be happy with that. He would be so much better than any coach we’ve had in a long time. Wouldn’t surprise me if he got us to a bowl next year.
