Oregon State announced today that redshirt sophomore quarterback transferring. Del Rio was once a commit to Oklahoma State out of high school, but after their offensive coordinator left he walked on to Alabama in 2013 as an early enrolle and reshirted. After one year in Tuscaloosa he left for Oregon State where he was the back-up in 2014 for Sean Mannion. The NCAA grated him immediate eligibility in 2014.
He has a very good relationship with Mike Riley, Danny Langsdorf and the staff at Nebraska. Talking to people in Corvallis, they would not be surprised at all if Nebraska was a possible landing spot for Del Rio.
I talked with Luke Del Rio briefly on the phone Thursday, and he had "no comment" on his future. However, he did say he has already made up his mind on where he's going and it's a done deal. He will not make any announcements though himself, he'll let the school handle that.
Connecting the dots, Nebraska makes a lot of sense for Del Rio, especially since he's already played in Riley's system as the main back-up. Stay tuned...
Update - 3:35 pm - I talked to somebody with knowledge of the Del Rio situation and he said he doesn't know for sure where's he's going, but was pretty confident it wouldn't be Nebraska.
