Top 24 Safeties in the 2013 Recruiting Class - where are they now?

Pretty decent list - there is already one NFL 1st round draft pick and two 2nd round picks on this list.

That said, the list is littered with transfers. Ten of the top 24 guys in this class didn't make it and/or have transferred from the school to which they originally commmitted.

Also, one guy pleaded guilty to felony drug dealing charges.

NU signed one safety in this class - Nate Gerry (Rivals has him listed as an Athlete in their rankings).

Second round selection of the Washington Redskins

1.) Su'a Cravens, Southern Cal; 5-star, 6.1 RR, #12 on the Rivals 100, #1-overall prospect in California; Taken in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Washington Redskins; Three-year starter for USC as a hybrid safety/linebacker.

2.) Leon McQuay, Southern Cal; 5-star, 6.1 RR, #22 on the Rivals 100, 5th-best prospect in Florida; Was a reserve strong safety for USC in 2015; He had 18 tackles, including 1.5 for losses of 3 yards, 3 deflections, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery; Started 9 games at strong safety in 2014.

Two-year starter for Notre Dame

3.) Max Redfield, Notre Dame; 5-star, 6.1 RR, #30 on the Rivals 100, 2nd-best prospect in California; Two-year starter at safety for the Irish; Had 64 tackles, 2 TFL, and an interception during the 2015 season.

Taken in the 2nd round by the New Orleans Saints

4.) Vonn Bell, Ohio State; 5-star, 6.1 RR, #32 on the Rivals 100, 4th-best prospect in Georgia; Taken in the 2nd Round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints; An All-American safety in 2015, he also had 6 interceptions during the Buckeyes' 2014 national championship season.

Now at Auburn after being booted at UGa

5.) Tray Matthews, Georgia; 4-star, 6.0 RR, #44 on the Rivals 100, 5th-best prospect in Georgia; Now a starting strong safety at Auburn after being kicked off the Georgia football team in the spring of 2014; He was arrested by UGA Police in March 2014, along with three other Georgia football players, and charged with misdemeanor theft by deception for allegedly double-dipping school-issued financial-aid checks by cashing them twice; Started 6 games for UGa as a true freshman and had 36 tackles, one interception and one forced fumble.

Now at Texas A&M

6.) Priest Willis, UCLA; 4-star, 6.0 RR, #56 on the Rivals 100, #1-overall prospect in Arizona; Now at Texas A&M where he sat out the 2015 season due to NCAA transfer regs; Willis played in 21 games for the Bruins, starting only one game over two seasons; One of the main reasons he transferred to Texas A&M is due to his relationship with Aggies DB coach Terry Joseph, who recruited him heavily while coaching at Nebraska.

Keanu Neal (#42) was taken in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft

7.) Keanu Neal, Florida; 4-star, 6.0 RR, #64 on the Rivals 100, 13th-best prospect in Florida; Taken in the first round (#17 overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons; Two-year starter at safety for the Gators, and had 96 tackles, 3.5 tackles-for-loss and 2.0 sacks in 2015.

8.) Marcell Harris, Florida; 4-star, 6.0 RR, #67 on the Rivals 100, 14th-best prospect in Florida; Has appeared in 24 games over the past two seasons, mostly on special teams; Has 29 career tackles; Redshirted in 2013.

9.) Tahaan Goodman, UCLA; 4-star, 6.0 RR, #80 on the Rivals 100, 4th-best prospect in California; Has appeared in 39 games with 12 starts; Started 3 games in 2015 and had 38 tackles and 2 pass breakups.

10.) Holland Fisher, Virginia Tech; 4-star, 6.0 RR, #83 on the Rivals 100, 6th-best prospect in Virginia; Now at Virginia Union, a Division II program, after spending 2015 at San Jose City College, a California JUCO; Didn't qualify out of HS and spent 2013 at Fork Union Military Academy, then enrolled at VaTech, where he redshirted in 2014; Was allegedly having academic problems when he left VaTech in August, 2015.

11.) Tony Conner, Ole Miss; 4-star, 6.0 RR, #86 on the Rivals 100, 2nd-best prospect in Mississippi; Three-year starter at Huskie safety position for Ole Miss; Was limited to five games in 2015 due to a torn meniscus; Second-team All-SEC in 2014, and was a Freshman All-American in 2013.

12.) Dymonte Thomas, Michigan; 4-star, 5.9 RR, #109 on the Rivals 250, 4th-best prospect in Ohio; Started 4 games at safety for Michigan in 2015, and had 24 tackles on the season; Has appeared in 22 games over three seasons in Ann Arbor.

Kameron Miles (#24) is now at Boise State

13.) Kameron Miles, Texas A&M; 4-star, 5.9 RR, #139 on the Rivals 250, 17th-best prospect in Texas; Now at Boise State, where he started 6 games at safety in 2015; Was dismissed from aTm after redshirting in his freshman season, allegedly over a theft; Spent 2014 at Butler Community College in Kansas.

14.) Nick Washington, Florida; 4-star, 5.8 RR, #164 on the Rivals 250, 25th-best prospect in Florida; Started four games for the Gators in 2015 and finished the season with 28 tackles; Has appeared in 28 games over three seasons in Gainesville.

15.) Jeremy Cutrer, Louisiana State; 4-star, 5.8 RR, #177 on the Rivals 250, 6th-best prospect in Louisiana; Now at Middle Tennessee State, where he is a starting cornerback; Didn't qualify out of HS and spent two years at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.

OU signed two guys on this list - neither are in Norman today

16.) Hatari Byrd, Oklahoma; 4-star, 5.8 RR, #189 on the Rivals 250, 23rd-best prospect in California; Was kicked off the OU football team this spring for "a violation of team rules"; Byrd started 2015 as the starting strong safety but was benched after the loss to Texas; He appeared in 12 games for the Sooners in 2015 and recorded 29 tackles but finished the season well down the safety depth chart.

17.) L.J. Moore, Oklahoma; 4-star, 5.8 RR, #194 on the Rivals 250, 20th-best prospect in California; Now at Riverside City College in California; Spent one year at OU, appeared in two games, and then left Norman the following spring.

Marcus McWilson (#15) is UK's starting safety

18.) Marcus McWilson, Kentucky; 4-star, 5.8 RR, #196 on the Rivals 250, 10th-best prospect in Ohio; Starting safety for Kentucky in 2015 and was the Wildcats' 4th-leading tackler; Had 66 tackles, 1.5 TFL, and two pass breakups; Had verballed to Nebraska out of Cardinal Mooney, but Pelini & Co. couldn't close the sale.

19.) Jayme Thompson, Ohio State; 4-star, 5.8 RR, #204 on the Rivals 250, 11th-best prospect in Ohio; Now at Indiana; Spent one season at Ohio State and missed the entire season with a broken ankle; Then he transferred to Iowa Western Community College, where he spent the past two seasons.

Currently serving a 4-year sentence for drug dealing

20.) Antonio Allen, Indiana; 4-star, 5.8 RR, #231 on the Rivals 250, 5th-best prospect in Indiana; No longer in football, as he is serving a four-year home detention sentence after pleading guilty to dealing in a narcotic, a level 2 felony, and dealing in methamphetamine, a level 3 felony; During a search of his Bloomington apartment, police found a .45-caliber Colt handgun, 47 grams of cocaine, 13 grams of heroin, $920 and three partially smoked narcotic-filled cigars; He was dismissed from the IU football team shortly after.

21.) Jamal Carter, UMiami; 4-star, 5.8 RR, #238 on the Rivals 250, 39th-best prospect in Florida; Has started 3 of 38 games while at Miami; Last year as a reserve safety, he had 48 tackles, a forced fumble and an interception off the bench.

22.) Sean Barton, Stanford; 4-star, 5.8 RR, 2nd-best prospect in Utah; Now an inside linebacker at Stanford, he didn't see any action in 2015; Spent 2013 and 2014 on a Mormon mission in Africa.

Delano Hill has started 13 games over the past two seasons

23.) Delano Hill, Michigan; 4-star, 5.8 RR, 7th-best prospect in Michigan; Started 8 games at safety in 2015, and started five games in 2014; Had 46 tackles and 2.5 TFL in 2015.

24.) Tyler Foreman, UCLA; 4-star, 5.8 RR, 29th-best prospect in California; Now at FCS Portland State, where he was a reserve DB in 2015; Spent two seasons at UCLA - a redshirt in 2013, he played in two games in 2014, making one tackle.
