Was limited to four games in 2017 due to injuries

1.) Porter Gustin, Southern Cal; 5-stars, 6.1 RR, #25 on the Rivals 100, #1-overall prospect in Utah; Limited to four games in 2017 due to a broken toe and a torn bicep; Starting outside LB in 2016 and was USC's second-leading tackler that year; Led USC in sacks as a true freshman with 5.5, despite being a backup that year.

Was in the news a lot this past year when details of his recruitment came to light

2.) Leo Lewis, Mississippi State; 4-stars, 6.0 RR, #43 on the Rivals 100, #1-overall prospect in Mississippi; Made headlines when he revealed that he had received over $21,000 from multiple SEC schools during the final week before National Signing Day in 2015; Two-year starter at linebacker for Mississippi State and was a Freshman All-American in 2016 after redshirting in 2015.

3.) Justin Hilliard, Ohio State; 4-stars, 6.0 RR, #55 on the Rivals 100, 2nd-best prospect in Ohio; Appeared in all 14 games as a reserve LB in 2017 and had 14 tackles on the season; Missed all of 2015 with a torn bicep and then tore the other bicep four games into the 2016 season.

4.) Anthony Wheeler, Texas; 4-stars, 5.9 RR, #76 on the Rivals 100, 10th-best prospect in Texas; Has started 17 games over three seasons in Austin, including eight starts in 2017; Has 148 tackles, 9 TFL, three sacks and two forced fumbles so far in his career.

5.) Sherrod Pittman, South Carolina; 4-stars, 5.9 RR, #112 on the Rivals 250, 19th-best prospect in Florida; Now at FCS Tennessee-Martin, where he was a backup LB and had three (3) tackles on the season; Redshirted in 2015 and appeared in three games in 2016 for the Gamecocks before transferring.

6.) Tevon Coney, Notre Dame; 4-stars, 5.9 RR, #118 on the Rivals 250, 20th-best prospect in Florida; Two-year starter at linebacker for the Irish; Led Notre Dame with 116 tackles in 2017; Reserve LB and special teams player as a true freshman and had 13 tackles in that season.

Three-year starter has already racked up 273 tackles in his career

7.) Cameron Smith, Southern Cal; 4-stars, 5.9 RR, #126 on the Rivals 250, 19th-best prospect in California; Three-year starter at LB for the Trojans; First-team All-Pac 12 in 2017, second-team All-Pac 12 in 2016, and a Freshman All-American in 2015; Has 273 tackles so far in his career.

8.) Nick Conner, Ohio State; 4-stars, 5.9 RR, #128 on the Rivals 250, 5th-best prospect in Ohio; Announced earlier this month that he is going on a medical hardship; Appeared in one game over three seasons in Columbus; Suffered three serious knee injuries.

9.) Jahvoni Simmons, Virginia; 4-stars, 5.9 RR, #137 on the Rivals 250, 6th-best prospect in Virginia; Announced last month that he is transferring to Hampton University for the 2018 season; Redshirted in 2015 and appeared in six games between 2016 and 2017, registering one tackle during his time in Charlottesville.

Three-year starter missed all of 2017 with a knee injury

10.) Darrin Kirkland, Jr., Tennessee; 4-stars, 5.8 RR, #168 on the Rivals 250, #1-overall prospect in Indiana; A three-year starter at MIKE linebacker for Tennessee who missed all of 2017 with a knee injury; Has 111 tackles, 11.5 TFL, and 4 sacks over two seasons in Knoxville.

11.) Joshua McMillon, Alabama; 4-stars, 5.8 RR, #249 on the Rivals 250, 8th-best prospect in Tennessee; Appeared in 8 games in 2017 and had 5 tackles on the season; Redshirted in 2015 and did not see the field in 2016.

12.) Cecil Cherry, Texas; 4-stars, 5.8 RR, 46th-best prospect in Florida; Spent 2017 at Coahoma CC (Mississippi JUCO) and signed a LOI with Grambling State for 2018; Left Texas shortly after the fall 2015 semester began and transferred to South Florida, where he had 30 tackles in 2016.

13.) C.J. Stalker, Virginia; 4-stars, 5.8 RR, 15th-best prospect in Ohio; Started one game at inside LB in 2017 and appeared in 8 other games as a reserve; Had 8 tackles on the season; Appeared in 11 games total between 2015 and 2016 as a reserve.

Technically, Nebraska signed three LBs in this class (Young was classified as a RB by Rivals) - NU had to oversign LBs in this class as Bo Pelini left the roster with two scholarship LBs.

NR) Adrienne Talan, Nebraska; 3-stars, 5.6 RR, NR among the top 100 prospects in Florida; Now at Alabama-Birmingham, where he appeared in six games and had one (1) tackle on the season; Spent 2016 at Navarro (Texas JUCO); Quit the Husker team in August 2015 before any games were played.

NR) Mohamed Barry, Nebraska; 3-stars, 5.5 RR, NR among the top 100 prospects in Georgia; Had 38 tackles for the Huskers in 2017; Was a reserve LB and special teams player in 2016; Redshirted in 2015.
