Everyone and their dog knows that Oregon was a game everyone (fans included) had circled on the calendar before the season but the newspaper quotes from players and coaches alike is worrisome to me in the emphasis that players and coaches are placing on this game. Banker in particular seems so keyed up it could be a distraction. I'll just put it bluntly; the last time I had this uneasy feeling about attention to one game was 2010 when a mediocre Texas team beat us 20-13 in Lincoln. It was apparent to me throughout that entire game players were stressed and feeling the pressure of the moment and that worries me this week as well.
Obviously Riley will strike a mellow tone whereas I'm sure Bo was spewing hot lava out of his nostrils which just exacerbated the problem and this alone will help immensely.
Intense focus and desire to win is all well and good, I just hope come game time emotions are put in check and everyone is focused on doing their jobs. Just something that has been nagging me even in the postgame interviews after Wyoming.
