Tony White

White’s defense stone walled OSU and Iowa
Had trouble versus RPO teams which Bo’s defenses had plenty of issues against as well among other things
Our best D coordinator in a LONG time
Our biggest issues were not on that side of the ball
OSU stonewalled themselves with a vanilla running game . They could have scored in the air anytime. Which they did when they had to . And Iowa last night they were not going to let the QB do anything except what he did . I agree TW is a good DC but he was to inconsistent against a RPO team . And that’s the issue with the 3-3-5 IMO.

White is clearly our best coach. Had a bad game against Illinois. I have no idea why people are so down on him this season. But the way people talk on here you'd think he was Bob Diaco. I'd get the hell out too if I were him.

Same with Robinson as a player. I don't get the hate.
same people who point the finger at him do all they can to prop up the OL and head coach

not a coincidence

Really struggles against even mediocre quarterback play
Gotta say it’s a tough pill to swallow losing to the Altmyers, Garbers, Maiavas of the world
Though the personnel on the field hasn’t been great, especially on the second and third level of that defense
Would love to see what we could do with more Cayair Wrights and some athletic safeties that play their assignments without having poor eye discipline

offense had the ball with a chance to win or tie each of those 3 and did nothing.

not to mention the terrible spots the offense put the defense in yet again all season long.

The defense was better overall last year in the secondary, what changed besides Butler? More quarters coverage? I wonder why they changed the scheme this year

We wont get "the best guy". We will likely have John Butler unless we get another Syracuse def coordinator. That is a real possibility as well.
The Syracuse DC is Elijah Robinson He was at A$ M Rhule tried to get him at Nebraska but he was making to much at A$M the staff got fired and he wasn’t retained. Rhule gave him his first job . Does it occur to anyone maybe Rhule doesn’t think the 3-3-5 is a good fit in the big after 2 years. Rhule wanted to change a little on D this year. I am sure White didn’t like it . I wouldn’t necessarily like it either it maybe as simple as a philosophy change. Rhule ran a 4-3 before. . Let see how it plays out.

well we lost by far our best corner, Q Newsome

nobody but me seemed worried about that

tough to replace a true 1-on-1 lockdown corner in cfb

that's the biggest change

I think Tony White is someone who can't see the forest for the trees. He's so focused on moving to the next level and being a HC that he may end up sabotaging his own chances. The best thing for him would be to be patient, settle down and stick it out another year here. But perhaps he's just not built that way. Sucks, but might be best for both parties to move on instead of serving as a constant distraction.
Other than actual interest from other programs, what makes White any more focused on moving on to the next level than anyone else on the staff?
