This is accurate^I heard 2014 when Nebraska lost to Minnesota
Depends on which poll you hold in highest regard. CFP had them at either 24th or 25th, while AP or coaches didn’t have them ranked. This is accurate^
accurate. 2014 was #23 vs #25 in the CFP poll. we were not ranked in the AP or Coach's.Depends on which poll you hold in highest regard. CFP had them at either 24th or 25th, while AP or coaches didn’t have them ranked.
That year was a rollercoaster. Barely beat McNeese State in the final seconds, beat Miami, came up short against Michigan State, blown out against Wisconsin, lose at home to Minnesota, beat Iowa in overtime. Then Bo is fired and are program hasn’t been the same since.accurate. 2014 was #23 vs #25 in the CFP poll. we were not ranked in the AP or Coach's.
and we were coming off a 59-24 embarrassment in madison the week prior, where we were ranked #16.
No One can ever say Nebraska fans are fair weather... this fan base has truly been beaten and bludgeoned yet stood by this team year over year! My kids who have never experienced a good Nebraska team are now out of the house... how pathetic is it that an entire generation doesn't know what Real Nebraska Dominance is???And we wonder why the excitement for Husker Football has declined. I don't think many understand how really bad we were. Pathetic would just about explain it. Some people owe the college a lot of money they stole from it.
You are correct. However, when I start to talk football with my two brothers who still live there, they are very disinterested. Ones son ran track and cross country for Nebraska. All formerly went to games. When I suggest we get together and go to one, silence. Both live in smaller towns and say that is pretty much the attitude. A far cry from my younger days.No One can ever say Nebraska fans are fair weather... this fan base has truly been beaten and bludgeoned yet stood by this team year over year! It's time for this Team to show the world... that starts each and every week this season! Day by Day! GBR!
Maybe but I have been to two games so far this year. You are correct. However, when I start to talk football with my two brothers who still live there, they are very disinterested. True, but you have to admit this is an abirritation based on the past 10 years +. I still think there is an overall wait and see if this is true and they can count on it attitude.Maybe but I have been to two games so far this year.
Bars (Haymarket and Barry's): Packed
Railyard: TOTALLY packed
Tailgate spots: Filled up
Stadium: Totally packed
So there very well are fans that are less into it, I have a few friends that I have a hard time getting to go to Lincoln or even have a hard time getting them to come out to watch, but I think for the most part the fan base is still very strong.
One thing has really changed since going to the b1g.....almost every game is on tv. A lot of people have 70 inch tvs and a very comfy chair and a close walk to the kitchenYou are correct. After the firing of Solich and the dismantling of the "Nebraska Way," I felt like we were getting what we deserved for being ungrateful, selfish, and for taking success for granted. But 25 years is beyond reasonable for a reckoning. The football gods have not been kind... one might say overly cruel. No One can ever say Nebraska fans are fair weather... this fan base has truly been beaten and bludgeoned yet stood by this team year over year! Northwestern hail mary. (Nevermind thats 2013)That year was a rollercoaster. A lot of people put all the blame on the coaches. Not me. We had a consecutive string of ADs and a chancellor or two who were bad in ways beyond belief. From "I won't let this program drop into mediocrity" to "I'm afraid of the coach so I'll fire him and replace him with someone his polar opposite regardless of his cultural fit at NU", to "I'm a drunk who can't think outside the box so I'll get the native son while he's hot."After the firing of Solich and the dismantling of the "Nebraska Way," I felt like we were getting what we deserved for being ungrateful, selfish, and for taking success for granted. I think we have paid the penance and now have what it takes to be successful in very near future.
I agree with all of that. I don't blame any of the coaches really. This whole thing was a mess from the moment Pedersen mentioned "mediocrity." It was so long ago that 50% of the current fan base has no idea what transpired during that ruinous time. Crazy how fast it has all gone. Yet excruciatingly slow in terms of getting back to respectable.A lot of people put all the blame on the coaches. Not me. I have some issues with Trev, but I'm most grateful for his staying on Rhule until he was hired.
