Tommy Armstrong in Frosty's O?

Not good, not horrible because he can run. Frost needs a pretty accurate passer. Tommy was far from that. I just don't see him having success in it.
I actually think Tommy would have done just fine in this offense, especially with the QB coaching and development that Frost's QB's get that Tommy did not.

Both would have done well. TA more of a passing threat, with T-Mart a great running option. TA could throw on the move too.

I can't believe the number of posters who continue to bag TA as he was playing with some of the worst OL in the history of Nebraska football, culminating in Tanner Lee's situation, this past year, as a bottom point.

Would AJ Bush have fit in Frost's offense? I don't recall seeing him play, so I don't i know if he had the right skillset or not.

TA had a pretty glaring weakness with his short game accuracy. Not sure that would fly in Frost's offense. You could tell Auburn was very aware of the dangers there with the way they were chipping (mugging?) the UCF RBs coming out of the backfield.

TA didn't understand the technical side of being a QB. He struggled with reads. For Frosts offense you need a QB who can read the defense quickly to identify the weak spots or mismatches of the way the defense lined up for that play. No doubt TA was a great athlete but as a QB he really struggled with everything except scrambling. Plus in Frost's offense the biggest priority is an accurate passer and Tommy was anything but accurate. We couldn't even run screen passes with him at QB

That is a good point. Hard to remember our players have not been coached by good coaches is a very long time. Get good coaches who knows what they are doing and able to coach up talent, things could have looked drastically different for some of our past players.

Wow...so TA was a bad qb...with bad coaches...with bad players around him...yet ended up winning a lot of games.

But if he was coached by a great staff with great play calling people still think he would not win games?

Or have overcome some of his inherent deficiencies?

TA would have been great. Stop with the decision making BS in this offense. The throws are pretty damn simple and all of them are TA's best throws.

The screen game passes would need work.

Actually I never did think Tommy as a bad player, or a bad QB. Sure would have loved to have had him again this past season.

Did he have great coaches around him his last few years. I would argue now that he did not.

"Bad?"

This is what I don't understand. Tommy was never a bad QB. He never won a lot of big games, but he beat the teams he should have beaten.

Does anyone here think he had the horses to win a lot of "Big Games" against elite competition?

IMO, Tommy, like Taylor Martinez never did get the credit they were due.

Scott Frost would be wildly excited if he had Armstrong returning for him next year. I seriously don't know what some of you people are watching on Saturdays.

TA would have been great in TO's offense. A tough, physical runner with decent speed who was pretty good with the option. TO did not require a precision passer and employed a limited screen game. Took more shots downfield, which TA was pretty good at. Frost would like TA's running ability and toughness, but he seems to want a little more accuracy with the passing.
