Tommi Hill

Just more poor decision by a coach that is stacking them up..
I have to agree here, especially on the offense. We select the wrong players to run certain routes. On 2nd and 1, we attempt a qb sneak instead of trying to take a shot down the field. HH played great considering how much was stacked against him.

Seriously, just take a real objective look at this roster and tell me how many stars you see? How many were named to the B1G teams preseason? There are some nice players and some serviceable players and a bunch of players that need to be coached up given time. Some of the young guys obviously are not ready for prime time or they would be in there. Coleman is one that comes to mind and we haven't heard a peep from the young guns at the WR position thus far. There is still time.

Give me a freaking break, HH flat missed Hill on the throw, he led him way to far and towards the boundary, even if he does catch up to it, he likely doesn't get his feet in. What different angle could he have taken? He did his job of getting open and we have to assume he ran the pattern that was called for, it was a miss by the QB, the WR laid out and gave an effort.

I thought maybe Rhule would get a grace period of a few games but apparently not. He hired the wrong OC but got it right on the DC, retained the wrong coach on the OL and can't call the right plays and also doesn't play the right players - just the ones who are his favorites you know like Fleeks who followed him from Baylor and sent him home to lose weight because he reported to camp out of shape. Oh those favorites?

It is clear that Nebraska will NEVER hire the perfect play calling OC, they don't exist. The only good play to call is the one that works every time. It does matter what the D is doing, a step here or a shade there, they adjust and have good athletes as well and these coaches know what they are doing. It comes down to execution and sometimes just a bit of good fortune if someone takes a bad angle, or takes a play off, falls down, etc. If we ever get above average OL and TE blocking at the POA it will suddenly make play calling much better and everyone will be happy. Strike that last remark. I also guess all we need to do is chuck it deep and let someone run under it. That always works. Such dumb coaches, can't believe we even pay these guys.

Rant over.

We've got a top 20 defense and what appears to be a real struggle to get to bowl eligibility. That should never happen. The offensive coaches deserve all the flak they're getting and then some. And no, there is no grace period when you're making a near 8 figure salary.

If he had hit Tommy we would be saying HH for president and Hill should be all Big10. Some of us watch football and some of us can understand it.

Tommi Hill was a big deal recruit down here in ASU-land but seemed to have trouble grasping the playbook. Kind of surprised we are trying to use him at multiple positions. Of course he’s older and hopefully wiser.

You mean Frost and co?

Tommi Hill has done the exact thing as Coleman and Lloyd, and that is nothing.
And not being considered for a redshirt. Rhules been pretty clear on his plans for the younger kids. He's also been clear about practice performance dictates playing time.

Full disclosure: I haven't looked Saturday's participation chart. If those two played in mop up time then I gotta wonder why they can't be used to stretched the field while it matters.

A tremendous athlete but sometimes I wonder what's going on between the ears with him. He has great speed and athletic ability but can he play football? I like the fact that they're trying to use him because of his speed but it seems straight line and no change of direction which hurts them at cornerback.

Coleman has played in all 3 games and has seen nary a target.

not his fault when sims was in - sims had him for what would've been a game sealing TD week 1 but he was slow on the trigger and instead was sacked.

last week, not sure what to think.

I also don't believe the hamstring talk with Coleman.

Lloyd has only played in 1 game - the opener. he may very well be nicked.

I remember clamor to fire Tom Osborne every time he lost to Oklahoma, was upset by Mizzou, Syracuse, Iowa St or was beat down in the Orange Bowl by Florida teams, Georgia Tech, Clemson and even Oklahoma. Then "the most knowledgeable" fans in America screamed bloody murder that Frank Solich should never have been fired for any reason. Now "they have progressed" into needing to fire Matt Rhule three games in because of press conference quotes and unsatisfactory player substitution. There is no place like Nebraska.

I also think some of this is strategic for maintaining redshirts. That may change as we get into conference play and they acknowledge the vets haven't stepped up. If they play all of the frosh WR in the 1st 4 games, they don't have a RS option left. Play one or two, see how they react to the moment & later in practice. Sit those & play another one or two. Figure out who, if any, is truly going to help this year.

That said, I personally would have included some deep routes for the young bucks while they're getting their feet wet. Definitely not any worse than Hill at this point.

Coleman - our most highly touted frosh WR - has played all 3 games so far

zero targets

seems like a waste if he's only going to play one more game

considering his place on the depth chart, though, I don't expect him to redshirt

😂😂😂😂😂😂 love these recliner coaches. The staff is 3 games into a total rebuild of a program left in ruin and you expected 1995 Nebraska right out of the gate. They can’t even get creative and find ways to spark this team and make things happen without the “experts” telling them what they’re doing wrong.

If you're going to put some blame on Rhule for the offensive woes, you have to give him some props for the defensive success too.

Another way to put this, is how much of the offensive troubles are Satterfield vs the head coach.

I watched his latest press conference and came away with a better feeling about how coach Rhule is doing things.

I liked what he had to say about our margin of winning and how we need to increase that as well as wanting more success on Special Teams, More takeaways on Defense.. he really sort of told us all the little problem areas that he wants to address. Stuff that the fans may not really see.

They are still figuring out who does what on Offense a little bit.. it will get better as the year goes by.

I don't like seeing us in the hole down 2 RB's, but it's an opportunity for the 2 younger guys. It's a long season.

Don’t have a recliner.. so more of a sofa coach. If rhule doesn’t start a healthy sims over HH then he’ll gain back some credibility, but he will always be susceptible to confirmation bias to his initial analysis.

I assume OC and DC call the plus but rhule decides important factors like starting qb, going for 4th down plays, pivotal moments..etc.

But yeah he gets credit for hiring an amazing DC

Because you’re who? Are you at practice? Are you in the team meetings? If not it’s safe to say you have no idea what you’re talking about since you have no knowledge of what goes on within the team. It’s easy to sit on the couch and judge but beware, that’s the best way to be made a fool.

Just a concerned Husker fan worried we just hired another coach that can’t evaluate qb talent. I don’t have a bias to any player, but rhule obviously does.

I think I'll start the guy who has 1 turnover in 1+ games and not start the QB with 7 turnovers in 2 games.

Jeff Sims is who Jeff Sims has always been. We don't even know who HH is yet, its time to find out.

At this point, leave the creativity to Tony White.

Was open on that one deep ball just a poor throw by HH unfortunately
if it's the play I'm thinking of, better to overthrow him than underthrow it. I wonder how many reps HH & Hill got together the prior week. The timing with WR's is a thing. I hope they start HH again, but I think Sims will get the start.

The moment Sims starts turning the ball over, HH goes in.

He sort of needs more confirmation I think (we fans don't) but I suspect they will tweak things until they are happy.

Rhule also mentioned something about knockdowns at his pressor. Said he got it from TO.. Is this like pancakes of the old era?
