1919 - The New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox reach an agreement which would move future Hall of Famer Babe Ruth to New York.
1925 - The first East-West Shrine Bowl game of college football 'all-stars' played before 25,000 fans at Ewing Park, San Francisco. Proceeds continue to benefit Shriners Hospitals for Children.
1927 - The East-West Shrine Football Game was the first to feature player numbers on both the front and backs of game jerseys.
1943 - The Chicago Bears defeat the Washington Redskins 41-21 to win the NFL Championship game and their sixth league title.
1954 - The Cleveland Browns rout the Detroit Lions 56-10 to win the NFL Championship Game.
