So what is the rule? During Saturday's game a pass intended for a State player was tipped by that player and ended up in the hands of a second State player without being touched by an NU Player. Why was this allowed? Wasn't this called a penalty on Purdue in that game with us the week before?

Not a penalty. It was a penalty on Purdue the week before because it was an ineligible receiver.

Iirc that was illegal because the Purdue player who caught it was an ineligible lineman.
