Time for Barnett to step up...

He could but then who would play C and make the checks and calls?

Decker would be the obvious choice at center...but, it doesn't sound like Riley likes the thought of moving Utter. So, someone else is going to have to step up at guard.

I have a feeling that by the end of the year Wilson and farmer will both be very good guards. I thi K there we Our O line will be damn good in 2017 and 2018.

I think Barnett ends up starting at LG by week one. They are trying to speed up Wilson's understanding of the playbook, and giving him more first team reps.
I've pretty consistently heard that Barnett may be one of the most physically gifted interior linemen we've had in a while. We'll see.

Barnett is a stud and a rising star. He just needs experience and consistency. At least one good thing about Foster's injury is that it happened 2 weeks before the opening game rather than 2 days. At least now Barnett can rep with the ones in practice and grow comfortable with that.

We really need Barnett to grow up fast now that we lost Foster for the season, hopefully he seizes the opportunity to start as a Redshirt Freshman.

Should be a competitive battle between him and Boe Wilson.

And Corey Whitaker when he returns. The trouble for Whitaker though is that the edge he has over Barnett and Wilson is his experience. But his experience has never been as a starter and he lacks the raw talent of the young guys. So my hunch is that with several weeks of practicing with the ones, and a couple of starts in real games, the young guys will have the edge over Whitaker.

Personally Whitaker been injury pron his entire career and would be shocked if he beats out Barnett and Wilson during they entire duration of the season.
