Here is what has become of Tim Miles former assistant coaches:
Ron “Chin” Coleman: short stint at Nebraska as director of player personnel before departing for Bradley as a full time assistant. Has since moved to UIC and is now at Illinois as an assistant. Presumably as a Chicagoland recruiter. He’s included on the list because he came with Miles after being an assistant at CSU
Ben Johnson: left for Minnesota. Just left for Xavier, per Car&Lando
Chris Harriman: left for New Mexico and is now the associate HC at New Mexico
Craig Smith: Utah State Head Coach. Left for South Dakota HC job and has since parlayed it into a better job.
Kenya Hunter: coup when Miles landed him from Georgetown. Just recently headed to greener pastures at UCONN
Rashon Burno: left for assistant job for a Hurley at Arizona State after weeks on the job. Now an AHC at ASU
Phil Beckner: left for Boise St. largely credited for developing Chandler Hutchison into an NBA draft player (projected late 1 to early 2). Was the Associate Head Coach but recently announced his departure to try to catch on in the Pro basketball.
What does it mean for Nebraska? I have no idea. None of them have flamed out at their next jobs. Several have advanced up the coaching ranks. Maybe it gives us hope that Miles will replace Hunter with another quality coach or maybe we should be concerned that so many good coaches have left for other jobs. Or maybe it means nothing and is just an update on former assistants.
