I think he’s got a better arm than Purdy and is faster. Not sure about his processing ability in comparison. I’ve never been a Giants fan ever but I kind of root for Jones. He would be better with the Niners and their system than he is with the Giants.

If you jump in the Hot Tub Time Machine and set it for "Pre-Mahomes," he might look pretty good to you.

Jimmy G...Russell Wilson... Mariotta... David Mills (whoever that is) all had better stats than Jones last year. He threw for a whopping 15 whole touchdowns ( all season). Even his own team wasn't sure they were going to resign him until he finally balled out for one playoff game (his only win in the post season)...career record is 23-34. What am I missing?

Daniel Jones feels like a guy who’s eventually going to be traded to the Titans and have a nice 10-year career with them

Kyle’s offense didn’t look great with Trey Lance who has a similar skill set to Jones. He’s such a good play caller that he just needs a guy who doesn’t turn the ball over. It’s a FB, power run and when they go spread its heavy motion power spread

49ers look like they have a real chance at a Super Bowl this year. I'm glad I went to a baseball game instead of watching the day they played my Steelers, lol.

He’s a bottom tier QB.

Jones had light years more college experience at a much higher competition level than Lance. The Giants organization and coaching is a hot mess. Compare him to Purdy coming out of college. Are you telling me you draft Purdy over Jones? No way.

Who cares about drafting? What matters is decision making and accuracy. I don’t believe Jones could match Purdys success with the Niners, all things being equal. They decided he was the guy and cast off the other contenders. It’s his team now.

Daniel Jones has always had a horrible offensive line and his WRs are always hurt. He is the only reason why they are in games because of his mobility. They have to run max protect schemes a lot just to give him two seconds to throw the OL is that bad. That is why he doesn't post gaudy numbers. I'm not saying he is a top ten QB, but he would look far better if he was with the 49ers.

Watching the Carton show right now and one of them is defending Jones...I just don't get it. Is it because he's such a good looking dude? Why do people cling to the idea he is a good QB? Weird....but entertaining.

Funny thing is the Chiefs traded for their wide receiver core last season. Those guys do suck. I wonder who’s idea that was?

Jones is just a guy. I’m glad the Giants continue to roll him out there. Easy W’s for the Cowboys.

I just said they had a similar skill set. I have no idea who would be better but when they tried dual threat in San Fran it ended quickly

I think Purdy is a tremendous for for Shanahans offense. But I also think Jones would do better with the 49ers then Purdy would do elsewhere. Better overall I mean - not better than Purdy is San Fran. He's a perfect fit as a system QB in that specific system.

This play sums up all you need to know about the Giants. When backed up near your goal line, don't bother blocking one of the best pass rushers in the league and give him a free shot at your QB.

I think I saw that exact blocking scheme several times during the last Husker game. It literally worked every time for the other team.

People are critical of Brock because he doesn’t wow anybody with pure arm strength. He just manages to get the ball to his plethora of playmakers, while not turning it over. As if that is easy when live bullets are flying. His ability to slide around within the pocket, go through progressions, and make the right decision is borderline elite.

For those of you who coach FB...is it wrong of me to wonder if Jones should have seen a problem here and addressed it at the line? Something tells me if Brady, Manning, Mahomes, or Burrow...etc, see this they are doing something about it. Am I cra cra?

He had Trey Lance and jettisoned him. Lance is why I know I don't know much about talent evaluation. He clearly must suck but in the little game action he's had I thought he looked like he had a ton of potential.

Lance never had to make decisions in the passing game against a team full of elite athletes in college. He might get better with game experience but he’s brutal now. Niners are in a win now mode and Purdy’s contract helps them in the short term. Niners couldn’t afford to wait for Lance to maybe figure it out.

Jones is in a horrible situation IMO. IF the Giants let him go he could very well perform better with a different organization. The Jets would love to have him right now but they have similar O line issues

Purdy is a game manager. Very few of them win the Super Bowl.
Unless they get decimated by injuries, the Niners are going to the NFC championship game and maybe a super bowl. They have elite talent in Samuel, McCaffrey and Kittle. Their defense is not going to give up a lot. As long as they are not playing from behind, they can grind out drives and put up points, always staying within distance.

As of this point in the season, I think they are the best team by far

I agree they may get to the NFC championship game, but just don't see them winning a SB with Purdy. The last true "game manager" QBs to win a SB were guys like Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson. That was 20 years ago.

I thought it would be interesting to see how Purdy would do this season after NFL defensive staffs had a full off-season to focus a strategy on making him play to his weaknesses. Force the sophomore slump.

The eye test says he has looked rough at times. Maybe they have figured him out. But at the same time, he hasn’t had a turnover after 3 games. And he’s flashed enough in every game for his team to be 3-0 rather easily.

Guess i'm not sold Purdy is just a game manager. Dude hasn't started very many games and looks like he is still ascending to me.
Game manager is kind of a pejorative term. Guys that know football are super high on him. He’s not prototypical, but I think his intangibles put them over the top.

He’s good at making reads and placing the ball in tight positions with accuracy. He’s also not going to be careless with the football which accounts for a lot. I would trust the ball in his hands when it matters. His teammates are going to rise up and have his back when the going gets tough. Having a very capable running game takes a lot of pressure off of him.
