Hearing Nate Boerkircher in portal

I predict this guy comes back. Also, Lindenmeyer looked good, Markway should be a factor, I assume Carter Nelson will eventually be back at TE, Fidone may be back, and..... does HH put on 20lbs and move to TE? This is not a position of concern for me right now.

i was gonna mention him Lindenmeyer aswell....i liked his harassing blocking style....it was getting under their skin, i could tell LOL

Probably too many bodies in the TE room for the 105 limit. Somebody might have to go whether we like it or not. 🫤

Edit: Also have to keep HH. I think he could be a really good TE, potentially, but he can also keep the offense from falling apart if we have injuries at the QB position. Valuable player, he our shitty version of Taysom Hill. And that’s a compliment even if it doesn’t sound like it. 🙂

This is going to be a VAST generalization, but it seems like every team you play or every team you watch has a decent to good TE. Most of the time there's ONE on the field, sometimes two. I'm not sure that TE won't be one of the positions where guys find out the market isn't as hungry as say DL or OL. There could be some decent TE's scrambling for a home when all is said and done.

HH couldn't be any better than 5th team TE. Other than Carter he probably represents the best deep threat among the TE's.

Deep as in 25 yards or so, clearly HH's biggest asset for a TE is his speed. We have plenty of blocking TE's.

Surprised a Nebraska kid is leaving. The times are a changing. Aurora always had solid athletes and good coaching. Never lived there but it always seemed to me the town really supported sports.

Horses for courses. Obviously Nelson and HH would be more of a hybrid TE. But yeah, hard to see how HH can crack a group that is already fairly deep.

We're sitting at 20 departures right now, I imagine their use or lack of playing time in the bowl game may cause many of them to move right along.

His biggest asset as a TE is he’s an emergency and wildcat QB. 😉

I think Holgerson will want to use TEs differently and the need for two big body guys isn't there. Fidone, Nelson and Haarberg are guys that Holgerson will want to use. Lindenmeyer is a great blocker and Rhule has an approach when he wants to go heavy that is effective.

Add Hood to the growing list of portal additions of highly ranked high school kids who signed with blue blood programs, and then transferred to NU only to get buried on depth chart behind walk-ons. I wonder how much background work our current and past coaches have done on these guys or if there are just taking flyers on them based on past recruiting rankings and where they are transferring from.

I’ve heard Ingwerson was giving our top defense fits on the scout team too. Boerk wants to see what’s out there. Don’t blame him. He has to have graduated. He ought to see if he could grad transfer to Stanford or another highly ranked academic school to get a masters paid for.

I don’t think Hood was behind walk ons but he was behind several younger guys Wasn’t Seagran a scholarship guy?

I just hope they don't try and "make spots" for him if he isn't gonna be a game breaker. I felt at times last year they called plays for HH to kinda "do him a solid". I'm not a fan of that kinda stuff. If you gonna get him the ball get it to him in a spot that makes sense where he can utilize what you deem to be his strengths. Don't just do it as a TY...

Boerkircher’s best season was last year and he literally had 96 yards receiving.

Good luck kid.

I like him but won't lose any sleep over him. I thought he should've been used less and a lot of the Fidone "plays" might've been better suited for him. Solid kid I think but end of the day we gotta move some bodies. Let's not forget the DH offense isn't as much of a TE friendly offense as what Sat was running. So yeah some bodies could move on.

If I recall correctly, he came in with an ankle or foot injury and missed a lot of time in the offseason.

Amen. At times we have looked like an "everyone gets a trophy" program instead of just playing the best guys period.

Pretty sure Seagren was a walk-on. Not sure where Hood was at in the pecking order, but he didn't make the 3 deep published depth chart.
