This is how I feel about the "Heroes Game" trophy...

I appreciate the game with Iowa every year, but the "Heroes Game" trophy just feels so corporate, manufactured, phony, etc. Wish they would have just let some kind of trophy develop naturally rather than creating trophy foie gras.
Agreed. And the Uconn/UCF trophy has to be the dumbest in all of of sports.

I suspect that the UConn coach (Diaco) did it as kind of a tongue-in-cheek move to make something--anything--out of a completely meaningless game; maybe he's got a good sense of humor. And I did find it hilarious that UCF absolutely refuses to play along and just left the trophy on the field after winning the game.

Agreed. Rivalries develop on their own. Always hated that the B12 tried to manufacture the Colorado rivalry when we already had one with OU. Idiots.

You'd be foolish if you thought Iowa-Nebraska wasn't turning into a rivalry, but it takes time and I agree you can't force it.

Like the broken fence Trophy we have with Minnesota....

The ironic thing is, cu still doesn't have a Pac-12 rival, and no team would buy into it even if the buffs tried. Well, except that because Utah wears red, some cu dorks liken that to being a Nebraska replacement.Laughing

IDK, I got to the point I hated Colorado and thought of them as a rival. Maybe not on the level OU was of course, but Colorado took on the meaning of a pretty big rival to me. Perhaps others feel differently.

I'm quite a bit older and besides OU I always thought that Missouri was a big rivalry we even played for a bell, I know when Osborne was here he had trouble with Mizzou the first 6 years only beating them twice till 1979- 2003.And Devaney had Battles with Devine and Onofrio and went 7-4 against the Tigers.

I'm guessing I'm on the younger end of the spectrum on this board. I was born in the mid-80s, so I've only known OU post-Switzer probation. Been able to find most NU-OU games on YouTube or from HuskerVision at one point or another dating back to 1976 (plus a couple in the early 70s). Fantastic games, but I just didn't have the year-in year-out bitterness of the rivalry. Colorado felt more like a rival for me since they were more competitive with us during my formative football years.

I know these rivalry games are forced, but if you are going to force a rivalry, honoring those that strive to help others is a great place to start.
