I went looking for a depth chart. I am interested in looking at the offensive and defensive lines typically, wondering about match-ups.

There's a couple of Omaha kids on their roster. Just curious if anyone has a human interest backstory on either or both of them.

62 Jack Hasz OL Jr. 6-4 267 Omaha, NE Creighton Prep/Iowa Western CC

67 Nolan Gorczyca OL Fr. 6-6 289 Omaha, NE Roncalli Catholic

OFFENSIVE LINE The offensive line has been the strength of the UB football team over the last few years and fortunately for the Bulls, four starters are returning. A pair of starters are taking advantage of the extra year granted by the NCAA. Jake Fuzak, an All-MAC selection in 2020, returns at right tackle and Jack Klenk started all seven games at right guard in 2020.

The Bulls will need to replace All-American left tackle Kayode Awosika who graduated. Junior Gabe Wallace and sophomore Caelan Shepard are two candidates who will likely challenge for the job. Junior Alain Schaerer as well as sophomore Bence Polgar also return for their third seasons and could also play bigger roles in 2021.

There are also a number of young offensive linemen that redshirted last season and have a year of development under their belts, including Deondre Doiron and Tyler Doty. In addition, freshmen Janik Ogunlade will get valuable work in the spring after enrolling at UB in January. Looking to add experience on the offensive line the Bulls brought in a pair of JUCO transfers, Jack Hasz and Austin Lee. Also new to the Bulls this season are freshmen Nolan Gorczyca, Rowan McGwin and Matt Pajuste.

DEFENSIVE LINE The Bulls will return three of four starters on the defensive line from season ago and will also return a first-team All-MAC defensive end from 2019 who missed last season with an injury. Taylor Riggins is back after missing 2020 with an injury. The senior defensive end was an All-MAC First Team selection in 2019 after totaling 50 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks and three fumble recoveries. He ranked second in the league in sacks.

Injuries forced George Wolo into the starting lineup as a true freshman and he didn’t disappoint. The young defensive tackle played in all seven games, including starts in the final four of the season. He ranked second on the team in sacks with three to go along with 27 tackles, four tackles for loss and two forced fumbles.

With injuries at the defensive tackle position in 2020, walk-on Dom Polizzi stepped up and did an admirable job filling in. He remained in the rotation even when the line was at full strength.

Eric Black is a player that emerged as a factor in 2020. With the loss of Riggins to injury, Black was elevated to starter and started every game for the Bulls in 2020. He had 12 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, three sacks and a forced fumble. He had two sacks on Marshall’s final drive to help the Bulls win the 2020 Camellia
