The defense is obviously a concern, but I really like how they are opening up the offense. Whether this is by design or because of the Abdullah-free zone at tailback, I don't know. Tommy is throwing the ball with confidence and getting yards with his feet. We have some depth at receiver and DPE will be coming back. Newby seems at least serviceable. And the addition of Jano as an offensive weapon should warm the hearts of those who remember watching Rathman, Schlesinger and the Makovicas play. Beck always talked about being multiple, but this offense is becoming multiple.

My only concern is that we need to be able to run the ball better when "we need to run the ball". We're getting yards sometimes in chunks but we need to be able to pick up 3 when we need 2 for a first down. Part of that is how young some of our O line is.

This is exactly what I have been thinking the past couple days. What happens when we start playing good defenses that will force your weakness? Will we be able to get the run game consistency figured out? I like our O, but that is my one concern on the offense.

The offense is ahead of where I thought they would be. I also thought the running game would be better but I am very happy with tommy Armstrongs development.

I'm loving the offense. TA looks fantastic IMO. I feel like I'm one of the few in my group of friends that has been wanting to move to a more pass-oriented attacked at NU. Shoot, when Bo was hired I was hoping we were going to go to the "Air Raid" offense. Loving TA's development, and ready to get some pure passers under center. I think Langsdorf is the real deal. Now lets just get this running game figured out and we'll be set up pretty well.

This offense is averaging 519 ypg!!! Unbelievable for a new system and without our most explosive player. People need to look at this side of the ball and focus on what's good. This tells me the staff knows what it's doing. Defense's tend to be ahead of offenses. With some health and depth our D can be just as outstanding.

We are dangerous on O without a big time running game. If we have a back start to showcase himself and become 95% of Abdullah we are going to be really tough. Seems like the only missing link on O is a stud back.

You know we had trouble consistently running the ball in short yard situation LAST year even with Ameer so I'm not surprised that we are having trouble this year. It isn't an indictment on our backs or coaches, it's IMO more of a problem with our O line and their physicality and immaturity. We can't use Boyd's "Miracle Elixir" like we used back in the day anymore to gain that physical advantage. Everybody has big strong guys in the trenches now.

Yea for a couple years our line has lacked that edge. I think we have the talent up front, but unlike back in the 90s and even early 2000s they dont have the edge saying "I am gonna knock you on your a$$ and there is nothing you can do about it." Obviously we dont have the same talent level as then, but still talented enough to have an edge.
