There's a mentality that has infiltrated our program starting with billy c.It's an NFL mentality. In the NFL everything is about percentages and being balanced on offense. Listening to NFL radio they always say you have to be balanced because the game is based off of tendencies and percentages. Anyway that is what the last 3 coaching staffs have preached. I don't know how many times I've heard "we have to be balance on offense". However I don't agree with this when it comes to college football. I think you have to have an identity and recruit to that. If you look at the teams in our conference that have been the most successful over our time in this conference it's teams with an identity. If I ask what is wisconsin, or OSU, or Mich, or MIch st . identity is pretty much everybody would respond that they are primarily running teams with wisky mich and mich st being power running teams. That's what we need to be. It's the identity of Husker football, It's the identity of this state. Since 2004 we've gotten away from this. Here's a tidbit I haven't heard anyone talk about. Do you know the last all american offensive lineman to play here is...... T. Funoiti in 2001. Here's another, since that same time we've had 2 all conference Olineman according to huskers.com. (Incognito,Henrey). That is amazing to me. A program built over the years on power running smash mouth football, and a laundry list of all american offensive lineman, and outland winners has produced 1 AA, and 2 first team all conf lineman in 14 years. It all comes back to identity.
