The united states churches are the largest donor to the Vatican. And the Vaticans finances aren't good. And guess who's giving has gone down considerably under Pope Francis?? I think the catholic church would like to scale back some of their recent woken essay but are nervous. The Vatican also needs to repair relationships with Americans. Pope Leo appears to be more aligned with Francis philosophically wise but hoping that he's American by birth, can be the compromise between the 2
You mean just like sleepy joe was supposed to unite us but instead created more division, sure not holding my breath that this guy will be different than the communist Francis

Their giving has gone down in part because of the liberal policy of the former pope (according to my Catholic friends.

Yes that's what I saw/read. Nothing new but past regimes if you will have failed to address the issue

Still don’t care unless he can convince me that one story about Noah is true.
You don’t need the pope for that

Randall Carlson’s research on the Younger Dryas impact should do the trick

Not sure about the arc and the animals or the living until 400 business but the global catastrophic flooding seems to have some good evidence behind it

I grew up in the Catholic Church. I now despise everything it represents. I am a staunch Bible believing Christian.

That said I read where Francis packed the cardinal court with his adherents and added more of them to the total. It appears to be a move to keep his programs going. Leo has already bashed Trump and Vance especially over emigration. Corruption has always been their hallmark and moto.
You and Martin Luther have a lot in common. There are problems in virtually every denomination. Inevitably church bureac
Or maybe because the economy sucked?
Inflation probably didn’t help and a lot of elderly donors no doubt kicked the bucket during COVID. Remote worship services might have hurt but donations at my church actually went up considerably during COVID. We had drive up worship in our parking lot. One of our members set up a low powered FM broadcast and our Pastor preached from a section of scaffolding under the front door overhang. Deacons went car to car gloved and masked delivering communion. We had one Easter service where we were having a snowstorm and the Facebook feed showed the snow falling.

I know nothing about Catholic fundraising nationally or worldwide. If donations are down locally my guess is the Nebraska AG's clergy abuse report from 2021 or so was a big factor. It was very detailed in naming names from the 1930's up to like 2010. Any longtime Catholic family from around here recognized a name or 2 or 5 in that report. That really brought the disgust home for some.

I know a lot of very staunch Catholics. After that report came out 2 families that I'm aware of were done with Catholicism. It was a very painful decision for both families. I'm guessing there were many more that I know that left the church but I quit talking about it, people were embarrassed, upset & mad as hell.

I'm afraid my attempt at offering comforting words didn't go far. "You don't need an institution to have a relationship with God."

Illegal immigration is another big stickler, I do not blame anyone for leaving the Catholic Church due to child sexual abuse then the church tries and continues to bury the truth. I will venture to say every religion has issues of some sort or other. And don’t get me started on the school system protecting child sex predators
