I would never label those individuals that way, it’s not my place. They have to make the decisions that are best for them. I would have to question how Doyle’s assistant handled these situations. Doyle’s actions are pretty well documented and he did get removed from his position. What did his second on command think of these tactics? Did he take an action?
It doesn’t surprise me that many of the players are loyal to Kirk Farentz. We have see with our many coaching changes that players are very loyal to the coaches that recruit them and go to battle with them everyday. But having players that support the coach and having black coaches on staff doesn’t mean it’s a non issue. Like nearly every Iowa visitor we have seems to think. I never said Kirk Farentz necessarily had to go, but he did needed to take action. And all I can see is that he dug his heels in, did absolutely nothing and waited for it to all go away. That makes it pretty clear he doesn’t see a problem and/or doesn’t care. I would think having like 60 former players express these things would be very eye opening and pretty humbling, but not to KF.
