I am in Casper Wyoming this week attending our state WIAAA meetings which are followed later this week by our state Wyoming Coaches Association Coaches Clinic. I had a chance today to spend a few minutes with the former World Record holder in the Triple Jump, Willie Banks. Willie has come to Casper the past couple of years and put on a clinic for young tracksters at the coaches clinic and has also attended our state track meets. Let me tell you something about this man. He is one the most pleasant, humble, respectful, intelligent, and impressive men I have had a chance to meet. I haven't quite figured out why he keeps coming back to a state like Wyoming but believe me, he is one of the coolest guys I have ever met.
I am not really sure why I am sharing this with everyone but I just thought some of you would be interested to know what a truly great man this guy is. Plus the guy tripled nearly 59 feet in his day. That is ridiculous!
