The front page article that outlines TA's pass distribution is enlightening.

I've posted on here multiple times that TA reverted to last year where he continually tried to force the ball deep to his favorite target. Last year it was KB. This year it's JW. Tommy targeted KW 7 times for ONE completion. He usually had time to go through his progressions Saturday and yet he kept deciding to take shots at JW often with 2-3 defenders around him. On multiple occasions I saw him do that with a guy wide open not 10-15 yards from JW. People want to bag on Langsdorf for the play calling and I agree we should have run the ball more BUT our QB could have made the play calls look a whole bunch better if he had made better decisions in the passing game. We had guys open on shorter underneath routes that would have been much higher percentage throws. We saw it last year when he locked in on KB. I love TA. I think the kid has a ton of talent but in year 3 he has to make better decisions on where he goes with the ball especially considering the conditions. Hopefully he learns from this game and leads us to win out the rest of the season. GBR.

Agreed- it was baffling why we continued to try to hit guys 25+ yards down the field. It just wasn't likely to end well in that wind. I believe it is Tommy's job to go through the progressions and not just pick out one guy. Yes, I also believe we should have run the ball more but we were going to have to throw it some. We aren't good enough in the line or backfield to just line it up and pound it over and over without the threat of a pass.
People have always said that a coaches job is to put his players in a position to win and then they have to get it done. So far, in all of our losses we have been in a position to win and someone screws up. 2 times is was Tommy and 1 time is was the pass defense. Could we have been in a better position- probably but to call for a coaches head after 3 losses that were all close to being wins is one of the biggest overreactions I've ever seen.

If you put yourself in a hole, and bail yourself out of said hole, is it really a demonstration of how great of a player you are?

To be fair this past weekend our pass defense (safety cough cough) let us down bigtime again too. In that situation you CAN NOT let a WR get behind you and he did. Team loss. Play selection. QB play. Safety play. Everybody shares this one.

I am tired of talking about "the play" but just saw a replay and man, if Tommy doesn't put the ball behind Oz, it's an easy first down - no one talks about the play call, the coaches being fired, etc. It's amazing how a pass thrown 1 foot the other way can completely change the course of people's lives.

So according to your reasoning Langsdorf calling pass plays was not the problem it was that TA could not complete the passes? If your QB is having a bad game and the running game is working why call pass plays

Langsdorf called a bad game - sure TA could have made better throws but why put him in that position to begin with

Plenty of people have talked about the play call on 3rd down, I have to wonder if you miss typed that sentence and yes you are correct, Tommy made a bad throw to compliment his bad decision to throw it in the first place.

So you're admitting 408's recruiting was a joke?

Yes I'm admitting the current WR coach isn't doing his job..this is sports you don't use excuses...if you do you start out 2-3.
And makes excuses for people who underachieve..like the current coach.....his nickname is .500

Grow up

Glad you finally admit 408 and the clown posse were a joke.

Excellent analysis on Tommy. On a few of the deep balls, I saw the exact same thing. He had no chance of completing the long ball, but standing 10 yds up the field was the back all by himself, and TA never even glanced his way.

a great deal of QB play is above the shoulders ... Tommy does not go through progressions, he does not read defenses, he is not accurate, and he makes poor game management decisions

he compensates for this with his athletic ability and he has a strong arm

QB play is so hard to judge coming out of HS as you simply cannot judge the mental aspect of the game ..... Shane Morris at Michigan is a prime example, 5* arm strength and measurables but the guy simply cannot play the position

TA is a mismatch for any offense that calls for its QB to be a QB first and an athlete second which is what Riley wants ...

We should be taking 2 QBs a year whether they are 5*, 3* or 2*. It is simply too hard to project from HS to a sophisticated college offense how high school QBs are going to pan out.
