1. Riley is pac 12 and the ad is big 10

2. Nebraska football is built on the run

can someone convince me #1 isn't going to sabotage NU football?

and #2 is not true?

Depends. Most fans issue with Cally wasnt the offense it was Cosgrove. This in an era where the option was still heavy in our heart.

This would signal to me that fans would accept Riley's offense assuming Riley can somehow find a secondary and win the close games we lost.

We can win here with the type of offense Riley wants to run. He needs to recruit to his offense and he has been and will. But, Mark Banker will still be the defensive coordinator. And unless that changes I don't think we will be able to recruit well enough on offense to overcome Bankers inability to coach/lead a defense.

Bruce Read and our special team play.

What you post sounds good, except for the Banker and his sorry ass lack of defense.
He needs to be shown the door, like pronto.

Bankers defense will work with elite talent. Need some freaky pass rushing DEs, lockdown corners, and hard hitting safeties that can cover to make it work.

How elite is MSU's talent? I think they get their fair share of players, but I don't know that they've been at Bama like levels to make it work.

Since I can only pick two...

1. Langdorf's inability to establish a running game against teams with poor rush defense and his lack of a feel for short yardage situations.

2. Confusing rotation at running back yet zero rotation at offensive line.

I really don't care what style of offense Nebraska runs although I have my preferences but a good defense is a must. I prefer a physical run focused offense due to it's many benefits. Our current offense has been effective enough to win games this season but they're not good enough or crisp enough with it to carry the load. We just don't have a complete team and haven't for awhile. We're either good at one thing or another but never both at the same time. We don't have to be great at both, just solid as both and I'd imagine we would be sitting pretty well right now.

There are many things I dislike about the current offense but I cant say they're to blame all that much for this season. Our defense is flat out pathetic, it just looks like a bunch of guys who are lost and have no idea what they're doing out there. I don't know if it's confusion, scheme changes, half assed effort, etc. but it needs to be fixed for Nebraska to progress anywhere. The offense has carried this team thus far so it's not fair for the blame to land at their feet, some can be passes their way but the majority of it is due to the defense.

Everyone seems to be focused on everthing from where the AD comes from and the birth place of coaches. Too many people arw living in the past and expect the present to look exactly the same. We are in a different time. Fewer college teams make the run their bread and butter. Becks offense it turns out was fine even though he was never a fan favorite. Who wouldnt take it now? Right now this team is in double jeopardy. They dont have the O line ability to control a game and they dont have a premier RB like we have had the past few years. I think our RBs are better than everyone is complaining about. Wilbon makes a few shake and bake moves and he is hailed as the running game savior. Teams know we cant throw and there is no way we can overcome that disadvantage. They force us to do what we dont do well because we cant.

There are no doubt coaching problems which to me explains the mess on D. Technique is poor all around and not getting better. This concerns me more than anything. Good athletes can be better with good coaching. That does not appear to be happening.

So many things going on and we focus on where coaches and ADs come from. It would be one thing if Nebraska had actually turned out a bunch of coaches.

It will also work alot better with more than 2 division one players. The problem is that the best one of the two will almost assuredly be going pro in a couple months. The young bucks will really need to step up.

Omaha ain't no Youngstown ;)

I am coming back for the Iowa game. Does anyone know the name of some flying service that will tow a "Fire Eichorst and Riley" banner above the stadium? I am accepting all donation as well.
