1. Alabama has won 32 consecutive games against the SEC East, a streak spanning nearly 4,000 days.
The Tide needed a two-point stop late to hold on at Florida, winning 31-29, but it was a win at the end. Alabama's last loss to an SEC East team was at South Carolina on Oct. 9, 2010, which was 3,998 days ago.
2. Florida became the sixth team to rush for 250 yards against a Nick Saban Alabama team, with 258 yards.
The last previous one had come a year ago, when Ole Miss had 268 yards, but Florida's average of six yards per rush was the third-most allowed by Alabama under Saban, only behind Ohio State in the 2015 Sugar Bowl Playoff semifinal and Georgia Southern in 2011 (minimum 15 attempts). The 258-91 rushing edge for the Gators was also the second-largest against Saban's Tide, behind only Arkansas in 2007. The Gators also had a 99-yard touchdown drive, the first against Alabama since Texas A&M in 2018.
3. At least seven FBS teams missed an extra point on Saturday.
It was especially costly for Florida, which needed to attempt a two-point conversion at the end as a result. Utah found itself in the same position at San Diego State, but converted the two-point try. It was also costly for Nebraska, which had an extra point blocked and returned for two points in a seven-point loss to Oklahoma. Minnesota, Western Michigan, Pittsburgh and Cincinnati also missed extra point kicks.
4. Clemson has scored two touchdowns in eight quarters against FBS opponents.
The Tigers lost to Georgia 10-3 in Week 1 and barely held on for a 14-8 win against Georgia Tech on Saturday. Clemson needed a fourth-and-goal stop late to hold off the Yellow Jackets. Quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei has just 304 passing yards and no touchdowns in the two FBS games.
5. UConn finally scored its first points against an FBS team, on its 34th such drive of the season.
The Huskies opened the year with a 45-0 loss to Fresno State and a 49-0 loss to Purdue, along with a 3-828 loss to FCS Holy Cross. On Saturday, UConn trailed Army 42-0 at halftime, allowing six touchdowns on six drives while picking up just five first downs on offense. But in the second hafl, UConn got a stop and finally reached the end zone for its first points against an FBS team. Army won the game 52-21, and a Huskies touchdown with one minute left meant UConn covered the 35-point spread. Those 33 UConn drives without a point featured 21 punts, six turnovers on downs, two interceptions, two halftimes, one fumble and one missed field goal.
6. Fourteen players rushed the ball for Army.
The Black Knights ran the ball 67 times for 397 yards and 5.9 per carry, yet the leading rusher, Tyrell Robinson, had only 84 yards. The wealth was spread around. The Army offense also completed all three of its passes for 107 yards. In a weird quirk, Army has rushed the ball exactly 67 times in all three games this year.
7. North Carolina and Virginia combined for 98 points and 1,273 yards in a 59-39 UNC win.
According to the Tar Heel Sports Network, it was the first time UNC has had a 200-yard receiver (Josh Downs) and a 100-yard rusher (both Ty Chandler and Sam Howell). Per ESPN's Bryan Ives, Howell has joined Lamar Jackson as the only Power 5 quarterbacks to pass for 300 yards and run for 100 yards in consecutive games since at least 2004. Virginia quarterback Brennan Armstrong's 554 passing yards were the third-most in an ACC game in conference history. Armstrong has 959 passing yards over the past two games.
8. Colorado had 63 total yards in a 30-0 loss to Minnesota.
That included 82 passing yards and minus-19 rushing yards (including four sacks). The 63 yards are the fewest by an FBS team since Kansas had 21 yards against TCU in 2017. It was the fewest by CU since it had 46 against Oklahoma in the 2004 Big 12 Championship Game. Through three games, Colorado has just 273 passing yards.
9. Baylor surpassed its entire 2020 rushing total in less than three games this year.
The Bears had 813 rushing yards in nine games last season. This year, they have 970 yards through three games, including 307 in a 45-7 win against Kansas on Saturday. Baylor is 3-0 after going 2-7 last season.
10. Three of Mel Tucker's five wins at Michigan State are against Top 25 teams.
The latest was a 38-17 win at No. 24 Miami (FL) on Saturday, along with wins against then-No. 13 Michigan and then-No. 8 Northwestern last year. Michigan State has scored at least 38 points in three consecutive games for the first time since 2005, when the Spartans did it four times in a row. Two weeks after rushing for 264 yards against Northwestern, running back Kenneth Walker III rushed for 172 yards against Miami.
11. Florida State is 0-3 for the first time since 1976.
That was Bobby Bowden's first season, and it ended with a 5-6 record. This year's Seminoles lost 35-14 to Wake Forest on Saturday, committing six turnovers. FSU has turned the ball over 10 times through three games.
12. Memphis didn't run a play against Mississippi State until there was 3:15 left in the first quarter -- and it led 7-3.
Mississippi State's first drive got to midfield, but a fumble was returned for a Memphis touchdown. The Bulldogs then drove 54 yards over 8:42 and kicked a field goal. But the time Memphis took the field on offense, Mississippi State had run 22 offensive plays. Memphis won the game 31-29.
13. USC and Washington State had three turnovers in the span of four offensive snaps.
In the third quarter, USC threw an interception to end a drive. Two plays later, Washington State was sacked and fumbled in the end zone for a USC defensive touchdown. After the kickoff, Washington State threw an interception of its own. It was all part of a 28-0 quarter for the Trojans. Washington State held a 14-point lead against USC for the first time in 21 years, according to the FOX Sports broadcast, but the Trojans scored the next 45 points in a 45-14 win.
14. San Diego State is 7-2 against the Pac-12 since 2016.
That includes 2-0 this year with consecutive wins against Arizona and Utah. The Aztecs will play two Pac-12 opponents for each of the next five years.
15. Louisiana-Monroe ended a 12-game losing streak dating back to 2019 with a 12-7 win against Jackson State
The WarHawks went 0-10 and didn't hold a lead all last season. Terry Bowden's team is now 1-1 this year.
16. Incarnate Word beat Texas State and Northern Arizona beat Arizona for the ninth and 10th FCS wins against FBS teams this season.
That is tied for the most since 2013, when there were 16.
17. Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral became the first player in SEC history with three passing touchdowns and four rushing touchdowns in a game.
The only other FBS player to accomplish that since 2000 was Kansas State's Collin Klein against West Virginia in 2012. Corral had 335 passing yards and 68 rushing yards with the seven total touchdowns in a 61-21 win against Tulane on Saturday. Ole Miss had 707 total yards in the game, the second time in 13 games under Lane Kiffin the Rebels have reached that mark, as well as the sixth game in which they've had 600 yards. The Rebels' 41 first downs matched the SEC record (2016, Missouri vs. Tennessee).
18. Presbyterian punted one time in a 72-0 loss.
Head coach Kevin Kelley is famous for his strategy of never punting and attempting onside kicks and fourth downs. Even in a blowout loss, he stuck to it. The Blue Hose punted once in a blowout loss to Campbell, coming on a fourth-and-22 at their own 2-yard line. Otherwise, Presbyterian attempted eight fourth downs, converting two. The Blue Hose won their first two games 84-43 and 68-3, while never punting and attempting 13 onside kicks and nine fourth downs. But those came against NAIA and NCCAA opponents. Campbell is an FCS program. (Presbyterian recently transitioned to a non-scholarship FCS program.) Quarterback Ren Hefley threw an FCS-record 10 touchdown passes against St. Andrews, but he threw seven interceptions against Campbell.
