I applaud Mike Riley for sticking to principals and sitting his most important player. In this defense, the SAM linebacker has the most responsibility. He better be a bad ass, or your defense is going to get lit up.
I counted 6 different plays that Rose likely makes which would've changed the outcome. People who want to give up on the season need to realize he will have a positive effect on the defense.
Now that doesn't dismiss the lack of a running game or pass rush issues. However, I think Nebraska probably uses him to blitz a bit more if he's in the game. I also think his strength is advantageous in coverage vs their bigger dudes out of the slot, and at the end of the game. ... But I argue the game never comes down to the hail Mary if Rose is in the field.
