Three Nebraska Businesses Team Up
To Support Pediatric Brain Cancer Research
LINCOLN, Nebraska (April 4, 2016) – Three Nebraska-based businesses have joined forces to sponsor Wing It For A Cure, a special fundraising event for the Team Jack Foundation, on Saturday, April 16.
Hosted by Barry’s Bar & Grill, and co-sponsored by Dorothy Lynch and Sparky’s Wing & Dippin’ Sauce, the event will feature chicken wings cooked with Sparky’s and Dorothy Lynch sauce. All proceeds from wing sales will go to the Team Jack Foundation, which provides funding to pediatric brain cancer researchers around the globe.
The event coincides with the Nebraska Cornhuskers spring football game, where in 2013 Jack Hoffman, a 7-year-old pediatric brain cancer patient, became a national sensation after he scored on a 69-yard touchdown run. Now 10 years old, Hoffman continues to be a powerful voice in support of medical research funding.
“We’re very grateful for the generosity of companies like Barry’s, Dorothy Lynch, and Sparky’s,” said Team Jack Foundation Board Chair and Jack’s father, Andy Hoffman. “These companies are making a real difference in the fight against the leading childhood cancer cause of death. With no meaningful Federal dollars being invested in child brain cancer research, it’s the continued support of companies like these, and everyday Nebraskans, that are helping make a real difference in the lives of children.”
On Saturday:
· Barry’s Bar & Grill, located at 235 N. 9th Street in Lincoln, will serve wings from 9:00 am to 5:00 p.m. with all wing sales benefiting the Team Jack Foundation.
· Copies of Dorothy Lynch’s cookbook ‘Home Style Heroes: Recipes for a Cure,” will also be available for purchase with all proceeds benefiting Team Jack. The cookbook features nearly 200 Dorothy Lynch-themed recipes including entrees, dips, sauces, appetizers and desserts.
· Attendees can enter a raffle for a chance to win a Rex Burkhead autographed Team Jack football, Husker tickets, Barry’s gift cards and a Dorothy Lynch cookbook among other items from event sponsors.
“Jack continues to be an inspiration to a lot of families enduring the same struggle,” said Barry’s Bar & Grill co-owner, Kevin Duffy. “The annual spring game has become something bigger than football, it’s a yearly reminder of what we can accomplish when we work together. We’re honored to host the event at Barry’s and we’re very thankful for our co-sponsors. We look forward to an excellent turnout.”
