Sorry but I just had to share! I have done quite a bit of fundraising for the Team Jack Foundation and think I’ve mentioned what a shame it is that young kids in Nebraska and the Midwest are being treated with methods that were introduced over 30 years ago. Pennies on the dollar of federal funding goes towards a cure so it truly is up to the grass root movements to find cures. Yes cures. There are hundreds of different types of brain tumors and treatments are unique for children and so there is a TON of work to be done.
Meanwhile most parents have to fly their families to the coasts to receive treatment. Can you imagine how difficult this is and how much it disrupts their lives?
I’m giving a shout out to Jack’s dad Andy Hoffman because this man is absolutely amazing. Not only is he raising funds for a cure – he’s taking on an even bigger challenge. He’s making it possible for kids in the central United States to not have to fly to the coasts for treatment. It’s pretty big news. Andy is getting us our very own pediatric brain tumor center complete with the specialists we need. It’s a 3 million dollar center. None of this would have happened without Andy Hoffman. Kids from Denver, KC and all over the midwest will be coming to Nebraska. Way to go. So proud
