Talking about Jack Sock

Anybody notice how Lincoln native and Husker fan Jack Sock is doing in tennis?

Last American man still playing at the French Open (but he plays Nadal next, who basically doesn't lose in Paris), #2 ranked American, likely to move into the top 32 and be seeded at Wimbledon, world #6 ranked doubles player.

His brother played for UNL a few years ago.

Never met him personally, but really nice guy from what I've heard. Jack did an exhibition in Lincoln last year and my neighbor's son (6 or 7 years old) got to be a ball boy for the event. Jack spent plenty of time with people who showed up for the event afterwards who wanted to talk or received autographs and the little neighbor boy was glowing. Glad to see he's turning the corner professionally and about to enter the Top 32.

Ok, two stories...one about Jack , the other about Andy Roddick, Lincoln's OTHER tennis wunderkind...about 12 years ago, my boys and I were at a game in Lincoln, and they went down to the edge to watch a little pregame and they sidled right up to...Andy, standing by himself. They had a very nice conversation and a story to tell!

Now to Jack...after he moved to KC, he came to Wichita to play in a Missouri Valley Supers event and he was the obvious #1 seed...but his opponent dropped out , so they added the #2 player in the Valley into the vacant spot...I think the kid's name was Chris Na...well, it was an obvious screw up...this Na kid was the #2 player in the Valley and here they are playing first round...and Na beat him in a third set tiebreaker...epic match...Jack won the consolation side without losing a game if I recall correctly...but the director CLEARLY should have redone the draw or denied the kids entry.
