This goes to show how much coaching and program stability does matter. What happens when Nebraska gets both?
the problem is Iowa is getting better players as well.
for example in 2005 that class was rated 11th with these for results
2008 RSJR's 9-4 #20 final ranking
2009 RSSR's started out 9-0 then they lost their starting QB to injury, ended up losing to NW. then in the OSU game they started a RSFR and lost in OT, fInishing 11-2 bowl win in the BCS Orange Bowl over ACC Champion Georgia Tech. #7 final ranking, if Stanzi does not get hurt Iowa has a shot at the National Championship
unforetunately they failed to follow up that class
2012 class was rated 30th with that group the core of that 12-2 seasons as RSSR's
again developing players is/was Iowa's strong suit. from
2016 42nd class ranking
2017 40th class ranking
2018 40th by Rivals and 39th by 247
2019 38th by Rivals, 37th by 247 and 35th by ESPN will make this longest sustained recruiting over 4 years.
this season the new coaches just ended their 1st season recruiting class as a UNIT.
the 2020 class already has a 4* QB by 247 and ESPN to start with. the good thing he is from Texas and maybe he can bring some skill players with him.
the last QB they got out of Texas was Mansell and these were committed to Iowa until 2 coaches who were fired 4* RB Eno Benjamin who was just named a 3rd Team AA.
A WR who flipped to Alabama because of the Eno Fiasco. Eno started taking visits and nobody told Ferentz that he was going on visits. Ferentz has a no visit policy after you commit to Iowa, although if the player discusses it with Ferentz and are open about it, exceptions are made.
LB Jacobs who is from OSU got a offer at the last minute and talked to Ferentz about it, so Jacobs made a unofficial visit to the OSU/Michigan game then on Monday took a official visit. he then committed and signed his LOI with Iowa.
Jacobs and his parents were upfront and honest with the coaches.
Ferentz is upfront about the visit and commitment as he tells them to be very sure about their decision before committing.
