Osborne was there with Rimington, Jacobson, and Rodgers. It must have been a hoot seeing all of those guys together. Switzer is still peeved about us hiding Turner Gill out the day before signing day so the OU coaches couldn't find him. He also said our playbook from the 90's would still work today.

Good stuff.

Thanks for posting. Fun read. Despised Switzer then. Love him now.

Are you kidding me? That playbook wouldn't work today! No way no how. Just because 2 College Football Hall of Fame coaches say it would work, there are posters on this board that are ADAMANT that it couldn't possibly work! Hmmm....

It could work but it's not happening here at least for a long while. Now, it might take the same players we had in the 90's to make it work too. Regardless, all of us who are old enough to remember that well-oiled machine were blessed to see something amazing. I watched it from afar but hubby spent many afternoons at the stadium during the Osborne era.

And we hated Switzer as well...but he's grown on us over the last couple decades. (He did make me hate tacos though.)

My younger brother literally cried every time we got beat by OU---usually one of those "Sooner Magic" unforgettable moments. Wow, those were true powerhouses of their day, for sure.

Barry looks like tommy lee jones younger brother. The stories that guy could tell. And the confidence he had, he KNEW he could have gotten Turner had he made one more visit. Not that it would have happened, but he believed it, no wonder so many recruits believed it, and in him, as well.

Charisma was something old Barry didn't lack either.

Stop pretending you are toms wife. We all know who you are.

I always like Barry, Don't get me wrong, I hated losing to those guys but to this day I still think that NU vs OU would be good for college football.

best offense we have ever had, hands down, not this WCO shit we run today, you bulldoze people over and show your will that you are better then they are in the 4th qt. not this pansy ass shit we run today in which you want the O LINE to ****ing dance with the partner in front of them, hell yes it would work today, tomorrow and anyother day you want it to work, you need a damn yard u run the ball right at em, you beat the guy in front of you, it's called football. hell yes go back to it and you will see what happens, remember the bad asses we had, well I do and i'm tired of this finesse shit, run the ****er over and drive the damn ball down the field, that is what made us good, that and speed on D, with bad ass players who actually wanted to hit someone and not just wrap them up, our whole attitude right now sucks, bring back Charlie for a few practices and see what happens, this men vs men, not boys vs boys, you all saw it the last few games, we need SPEED. attitude and know how, we lack all 3. jmo.

I laugh at all the love Switzer gets on the board while the $EC gets hammered for being dirty

I know all programs have their skeletons but OU under Switzer was one of the dirtiest programs in modern times

He should be in the $EC hall of fame as a visionary

Of course he thought he would have gotten Gill. He would have offered a nice car. Turner wasn't the type to go for that sort of thing.

After one of the few defeats of OU in Lincoln under Switzer - he was found in a Lincoln bar having a few beers with Husker fans to drown his sorrows....what a guy.
