Sunday, May 23rd: Nebraska vs. Ohio State - (Huskers win 9-0)

BTN’s graphic just stated Nebraska can clinch a share of the title today with a win an a Michigan loss. That’s incorrect. It would be the outright title. Nebraska can’t finish in a tie with any other team because it will have played one less game due to the Sunday game with Northwestern being canceled.

Unless..........the Big Ten has decided the final standings this season will be based solely on the number of wins. That would be stupid in 1,000 ways. But you know.

It's the B1G so, yeah, there's no telling what they would do...

Schwelli just stole that HBP. With all the BS calls we've been subjected to I'm not going to complain. 2-0 good guys.

The folks at BTN have now pulled out their collective heads and are stating Nebraska will clinch the outright title with a win.

Kevin Kugler just tweeted that the conference office made the announcement. Presumably, the teams that missed a lot of games from covid will make up a few this week, but Nebraska and Northwestern are not going to be included in that.

As it should have been from the beginning. Northwestern's COVID issues weren't our doing. If we had played the third game we probably would have scored 20+ due to their lack of pitchers.

The fact that this is only being decided/announced now is beyond ridiculous. But not surprising from the league that settled on a season schedule three weeks before it started.

After years of begging Erstad to win a conference title and seeing 1 in 7 years, Will Bolt wins the very first one he could. Huge props to Erstad for his recruiting and stabilizing a program nearly destroyed, but Bolt is just different. Dang, son.

Too many superlatives to mention..., to say about what just happened this week end. Not even going to try. Just going to say this... Won the game, won the weekend hugely, WON THE WHOLE EFFIN THING!

Just do whatever it takes to keep focused. Sweep Mich or not, doesn't matter, just get things set up for NCAA tournament play without the patented Mike Anderson move of losing momentum.

I’ll see your “On to Michigan” and raise you a “Sweep Michigan!”
In all seriousness, I’m just ecstatic that this team looks like it is peaking in late May. The guys who were slumping (most importantly, Schwellenbach) have largely come out of it and even guys like Matthews and Mojo have stepped it up at the plate. The pitching is as solid as it’s been all year (plus Kyle Perry!) And the defense has been a strength all year.

The only things on the table next week are regional placement (avoid Fayetteville!) and keeping momentum. A sweep is hardly necessary. Just keep playing well. But a sweep would probably push Michigan out of a regional. Which would be sweet.

Here's something to love from today: 0 errors, 1 walk issued.
Been thinking about this, especially that 1 walk thingy.

I mean, really? A game four bullpen day? And they did what?
5 Hits, 0 Runs, 1 BB, 14 Ks, .161 BA/A - Game four?
Johnny Wholestaff is gooooooood. Sign him up.

In fact, our weekend pitching numbers are really good
3.00 ERA, nearly 5:1 Ks to Walks ratio (43-9) 1 WP, 3 HBP, .226 BA/A... all weekend
I thought Indy and the Bucks were the bigtime pitching guys in this pod. Well move over, dudes.
