Nice series. Strikeouts were a bit too common, but we outscored them 26-7. Pitching was pretty excellent all weekend.

Penn St beating Michigan St in the 7th 12-9 if Nittney wins will be tied for 1st depending what UM does against Ioway..

Just a play or two away from a sweep too. Really really good weekend. So many positives.

Loved the pitching for sure...what, 8 runs all weekend and none in the last 16ish innings? I'll take that for sure.
Christy managed the staff really well. Let them work through some jams but also knew when to pull the plug. Smart with pitch counts as well.

What is a pod? Anyone know?

A pod is where you play 2 teams 2 games for a total of 4 games. Teams will play two road games against a host school and two neutral site games against another conference foe at the same location.

Forgot to add.... If I understood the pregame radio folks correctly, the 4 game series in Minnesota next weekend counts as our Pod 'home' series. We are the host. I believe we tried to have the pod hosted in Lincoln but couldn't because they didn't want any play on grass fields in northern climates.

Also on an unrelated point of interest, it seems the rumor that we have to bus to all away series is not accurate as we flew to Round rock.

When's the last time a Husker pitching staff pitched back-to-back shutouts? Probably more recent than I remember 😄 But still a nice thing to try and build on.
Looks like April 2 (W 7-0 at Kansas State) and April 5 (W 17-0 vs. Purdue) in 2019 was the last time we had consecutive shutout wins.

March 11 (W 7-0 vs. Loyola Marymount) and March 12 (W 3-0 vs. Loyola Marymount) in 2016 was the last time we had consecutive days with shutout wins.
