Give up. They don't want or need evidence. They have a narrative and they will stick with it. I asked Tuco for a link or evidence earlier and all I got was crickets in response. Of course we know how many tickets are actually scanned. And of course it is absurd to claim that we are routinely missing 10-15,000 fans. It really does smack of desperation. I don't mind if someone wants to back Riley. Dingle and Tuco and Archie have made very, very good arguments why we should. Heck, I even agree with about 80% of what dingle says.
But this current narrative about our "typical" attendance being closer to 70,000 than 85,000 is just plain wrong. Provably wrong. And the only reason it is being pushed is to make Riley look better should tonight's attendance disappoint.
I have no idea how you can agree with that much of what dingle says. He's probably a good person but his arguments aren't just bad they're phony,

I actually think dingle is a great poster. I just have a sharp, sharp disagreement with him over this issue of attendance.

But his argument that we should keep Riley since changing coaches so often is a bad thing, is a strong argument in my view. He further argues that we should give any coach a chance to build an identity over at least four years with players he recruited. I don't think those are phony arguments and I don't think dingle is a phony. I think he loves Husker football and has for decades. I respect his views even where I disagree. Same with Tuco, whose posts are usually great, and Archie.

Agree to disagree x1000 about dingle. He throws some whoppers out there, this isn't his first. But whatever doesn't matter.

No problem. We can't agree on everything!

I like the people on here even when I can get a little testy with them. There are good people on this board. So I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. It is just football after all. Lol

They announce the attendance at every game, which is number of bodies through the gates. It has varied from a little over 89000 to almost 91000, there have never been thousands of empty seats.

better show me an official number from the football offices that says that that number is actual attendance versus the paid attendance. Virtually everybody promotes paid attendance numbers as actual. I can't find anywhere where they definitively state that the numbers they give are people who actually sat their butt in the stadium.

Whether corporations or individuals bought them and then they went unused is not relevant. What is relevant is we are reaching the point where no one cares enough to buy them
No one cares or not enough care to keep the sell out streak alive?

Good point dingle. Since I read your question here I have been browsing the web looking for an answer. And there isn't much out there one way or the other. I have always assumed that since they started scanning tickets that that was how they calculated actual attendance.
I still think your claim of 10-15,000 no shows is way too high. But I would still like to know how attendance is calculated

You've gone goofy.
The attendance they announce is he actual game attendance, not the number of tickets sold. If it was number of tix sold, it would always be the same, because of the sell out. they also oversell the student section.
Still avoiding. Man up and admit your claim was 100% false. That cannot be denied.

I think you are 100% correct. But I would still like to see official confirmation of exactly how the attendance is calculated.

I didn't think Sherlock Holmes was needed here. Why else would they scan tickets and then announce attendance later??? Why is it always different, albeit slightly (not by 10-15k like our liar says).

I agree. Of course. But some people won't be convinced unless they see it in a link. Absent that they can just obfuscate and dodge
