I've been a victim of identity theft, twice. Once from a stranger, once from a former spouse.
Had my car burglarized 3 times
Was assaulted (by a male) once at a party
Victim of property theft twice and property vandalism 4 times.
Have had multiple jobs affected by false accusations.
Had the IRS make a false accusation that I had to fight.
The government once garnered my pay because their computers confused me with someone else. It was a giant, expensive ordeal to get it corrected.
Have had the police issue me tickets in error 3 times.
In college had my grades affected by politics.
Had a car and motorcycle (separate accidents) totaled from drivers without a license.
I've seen friends and family have their lives turned upside down because of politics or inaccurate reporting in the workplace and their private lives.
Only once in all these issues did the police prove helpful.
Do I hate the police? No. Do I want sympathy? No. In fact this thread is to remind people we all have challenges, and we have to overcome them without resorting to violence.
