25 years ago Nebraska won the split National Championship and played all their home games on artificial turf..
Wrong.. This is the 2022 season still.. Nebraska beat Tennessee January 2 1998..Nebraska was the last - 26 seasons ago
Count for yourselfWrong.. This is the 2022 season still.. Nebraska beat Tennessee January 2 1998..
This isn’t the 2023 National Championship tonight..
both the teams playing tonight play on grass so the 2023 champ can already be countedWrong.. This is the 2022 season still.. Nebraska beat Tennessee January 2 1998..

you are correct. but i think what scarletred was saying is that technically the 2022 championship hasn't been played yet, so until it happens the 97 championship is 25.Count for yourself

so when Rhule has finished coaching the 2024 season will he have coached Nebraska 1 or 2 seasons?2022 - 1997 = 25
no matter who wins tonight it will be a grass team2022 - 1997 = 25
If Georgia wins they’ll be back-to- back 2021-2022 National Champions.no matter who wins tonight it will be a grass team
so he can and should count 2023 as already being in the books

edit
but i see that both teams are grass as you said above so damn.
Its getting to be so long ago, im getting sad.
The potential for the sh## I saw on a Thanksgiving game with OU in town is a GREAT reason to not have natural grass. It would have been like playing on a parking lot. We had a foot of snow in the stands and -30 wind chill. As long as we live where we do natural turf makes zero sensewith the money we have rolling in from the conference there is only 1 reason to not have real grass in Memorial Stadium - it would take money out of admins' pockets
so what happened 50 years ago is a good reason? The potential for the sh## I saw on a Thanksgiving game with OU in town is a GREAT reason to not have natural grass. Look how much difficulty in the past with injuries we have had when playing in West Lafayette, Look at the crap fields in bowl games that had grass like the Pinstripe and Holiday bowls with footing..so what happened 40 years ago is a good reason?
turf doesn't freeze?
it's 2023. northwestern has played on grass for eternity in 500x worse weather. same with basically all the teams in the northeast.
heat the field, grow a world class natural surface. we would not be the first to do this by a long shot. happens all over the world, and in many locations with much worse weather than NE
plus, it's infinitely better for player health (something I assumed you'd care about)
we had 2 freak injuries @ purdue one timeLook how much difficulty in the past with injuries we have had when playing in West Lafayette, Look at the crap fields in bowl games that had grass like the Pinstripe and Holiday bowls with footing..
Absolutely no to real grass in memorial stadium..
Top kong,we had 2 freak injuries @ purdue one time
yankee stadium? really?
natural grass is 1 billion times better than artificial turf
what next? margarine > butter? lol
you have turf on your lawn? why not? because it sucks!
if it's an advantage, why in hell wouldn't you want us to also have it?Top kong,
I know you weren’t around in 1972 when Nebraska played in Ames and purposely left the sprinkler’s on before Saturday’s game Nebraska was still in contention for a third national title..
Nebraska had 2 interceptions and fumbled 6 times that day, ISU QB Amundson threw a TD pass with 23 seconds remaining, thank God they missed the extra point and the game ended in 23-23 tie..
After this game is just showed me that it’s was a equalizer for a team that‘s not the better team on the field..
You’re not planning on having teams like Riley and Frost with this regime are you?if it's an advantage, why in hell wouldn't you want us to also have it?
who coached the team that lost to the natural grass iowa st bunch in 1972?You’re not planning on having teams like Riley and Frost with this regime are you?
I could be wrong but I think they can heat our artificial turf.so what happened 50 years ago is a good reason?

are you saying the below is false:I could be wrong but I think they can heat our artificial turf.
There’s zero reason to not be playing on artificial turf. There’s no statistically different rate of injury between real and fake turf.
Mizzo did the same thing prior to the Nebraska game in 97Top kong,

I’m saying that’s propaganda by somebody with a misplaced agenda. Now show me the study where they show the injuries with frozen or chewed up turf. I would a thousand times rather play a bad weather game on artificial turf than grass.are you saying the below is false:
First, a bit of physics: Professional football players put extremely high levels of force and rotation onto the playing surface. Grass will eventually give, which often releases the cleat prior to reaching an injurious load. On synthetic surfaces, there is less give, meaning our feet, ankles and knees absorb the force, which makes injury more likely to follow.
The data supports the anecdotes you’ll hear from me and other players: artificial turf is significantly harder on the body than grass. Based on NFL injury data collected from 2012 to 2018, not only was the contact injury rate for lower extremities higher during practices and games held on artificial turf, NFL players consistently experienced a much higher rate of non-contact lower extremity injuries on turf compared to natural surfaces. Specifically, players have a 28% higher rate of non-contact lower extremity injuries when playing on artificial turf. Of those non-contact injuries, players have a 32% higher rate of non-contact knee injuries on turf and a staggering 69% higher rate of non-contact foot/ankle injuries on turf compared to grass.

you'd like to use an extreme outlier (frozen, "chewed up") as reason to not use it?I’m saying that’s propaganda by somebody with a misplaced agenda.
