Stasson Composite Top 25 as of 8/13

National Top 25

1 Alabama 262 1 1 2 6 1 3 - 1 1 1 (defending champion, hard to argue)
2 Clemson 261 2 2 1 1 2 2 - 4 2 2 (another team, hard to argue)
3 Ohio State 244 4 3 3 5 3 1 - 2 11 3 (wow, they haven't been Top 4, since 2014, I know 2016)
4 Georgia 237 3 4 4 10 5 5 - 3 4 4 (team to beat in SEC East)
5 Wisconsin 218 9 6 5 7 6 9 - 8 6 5 (too high, with QB, TE, 7 new starters on defense, ST?)
6 Washington 217 8 7 8 4 4 4 - 6 8 13 (team to beat in Pac 12)
7 Michigan 199 5 9 18 2 11 6 - 10 9 10 (they will be loaded on defense, but is offense there?)
8 Oklahoma 196 10 5 6 15 9 14 - 5 13 6 (about right)
9 Auburn 195 7 12 9 3 19 11 - 7 7 9 (about right)
10 Penn State 187 11 10 11 17 12 12 - 9 3 7 (I would put ahead of OSU and Michigan)
11 Miami-Florida 179 6 8 7 8 7 19 - 14 23 8 (I would lower a little)
12 Michigan State 170 12 11 10 12 13 7 - 13 20 11 (could be team to pull out East)
13 Notre Dame 161 15 14 12 19 8 8 - 11 19 12 (do they lose to Michigan in home opener?)
14 Stanford 137 18 13 13 20 15 20 - 18 10 15 (always solid under Coach Shaw)
15 Florida State 123 13 18 16 - 18 18 - 21 5 16 (a little high after last year - earn it!)
16 Southern Cal 120 21 15 19 - 16 16 - 15 12 14 (they have some holes to fill; interesting schedule)
17 Texas 107 20 23 - 13 10 10 - 17 17 - (not sure I would have this high - potential)
18 Mississippi State 102 14 20 20 - 21 13 - 19 21 18 (open w/ SF Austin, then @ K-State)
19 Boise State 90 19 21 14 14 14 23 - - - 22 (Sports Illustrated didn't rank them)
20 Texas Christian 89 24 - 21 11 20 15 - 20 - 17 (Week 3 game vs. OSU should be interesting)
21 Virginia Tech 79 16 16 17 25 - 21 - 24 - 19 (Sports Illustrated didn't rank either)
22 Central Florida 70 - 20 23 21 - 24 - 12 24 23 (reasonable, but they will miss Frost & Company)
23 Florida 66 17 - - 9 17 - - - 15 - (a little early and a light schedule in September)
24 Louisiana State 51 - 17 - - - - - 22 14 20 (this is about right)
25 West Virginia 49 22 22 15 24 - - - 23 - - (no higher, please)

26 Oregon 42 23 - 22 - 24 22 - - 22 - (they lost debut in Las Vegas Bowl, no P5s in OOC)
27 South Carolina 23 - 24 24 22 - - - - - - (beat Michigan in bowl; Coach Muschamp defends Durkin)
28 Oklahoma State 22 - - - - - - - 16 - 24 (despite personnel losses, good schedule to reload)
29 Northwestern 20 - - - - - 17 - - - 25 (it all depends on the health of QB Clayton Thorson)
30 Iowa 16 - - - - - 25 - - - 21 (I like QB Nate Stanley, but questions exist)
31t Arizona 15 - - - 16 - - - - - - (Sports Illustrated likes them!)
31t Missouri 15 - - - - - - - - 16 - (this is a game I will root for Purdue in Week 3)
33t N.C. State 13 - - - 18 - - - - - - (Sports Illustrated likes them, as well!)
33t Tennessee 13 - - - - - - - - 18 - (Really? Lindy's has them #67 and like Ole Miss more!)
35 Texas A&M 12 25 - - - - - - 25 - - (Better than Missouri or Tennessee for sure!)
36 Utah 9 - - - - 22 - - - - - (Week 2 visit to Northern Illinois in DeKalb should be interesting!)
37t Boston College 8 - - - - 23 - - - - - (they have a stud at RB, only a sophomore!)
37t Florida Atlantic 8 - - - 23 - - - - - - (they open at OU in 2018!)
39t Arkansas State 6 - - - - 25 - - - - - (they travel to Alabama in Week 2; best Sun Belt program?)
39t Georgia Tech 6 - - 25 - - - - - - - (coming off 5-6 season last year, play 9 P5 programs!)
39t Kansas State 6 - 25 - - - - - - - - (I hope they beat Mississippi State in Week 2)
39t UCLA 6 - - - - - - - - 25 - (coming off 5-7 season last year; welcome Coach Chip Kelly!)

And I'm sure you would have posted this if Nebraska was ranked in that national poll. Yes, I'm sure you would have.

I am sure plenty of others would have beat me to it. But, it is great to see College Football back shortly.

I don't see Nebraska going 4-8 again. They should be far more competitive in 2018. Having a new QB may keep the record less of a flop, compared to the 9-4 record in 2016.

A 9-4 mark this year would certainly put Nebraska back in the Top 25. As you know, the final poll is far more important

Really? I don't even know what the Stasson composite is. You honestly think a lot of others would have beat you to the punch?

You mention that you think Wisconsin is ranked too high in your comments but then rank them at the top of the B1G in your personal rankings above tOSU.
I won't disagree with anyone who posts a personal poll pre-season but that is not consistent.

Well, the pecking order in the Big Ten doesn't always see teams ranked in the same order as the national polls.

The Big Ten have had 1-2 teams unranked ahead of teams ranked before in the conference standings.

Wisconsin is likely going to win West. Ohio State likely is a better team, but they may not get to Indianapolis.

Power ratings are looking at odds for Indianapolis and who I view as teams to best this year in conference. Top 25 wasn't my Top 25, but I would put B1G teams ahead of UW in my Top 25 that I shared in early Summer.

Mississippi State will be entering a hornet's nest when they visit Manhattan, KS. That will tell a lot about two teams not of much or no interest (anymore) in UNL land.
