We have enough posts about how bad we suck so I figured I'd go a different route on this bad boy. As we know, Frost has only only had 2 recruiting classes but this is interesting nonetheless.
Below is a list of the starters (yes I know I listed 12 defenders) and who they were recruited by:
Spielman - Riley
Jaimes - Riley
Hixson - Riley (Walkon)
Jurgens - The University of Nebraska
Wilson - Riley
Farniok - Riley
Stoll - Riley
Noa - Frost
Robinson - Frost
Martinez - Frost
Washington/Mills - Frost
C. Davis - Pelini/Riley
K. Davis - Pelini/Riley
Dar. Daniels - Frost
A. Davis - Riley
Miller - Riley
Barry - Riley
Tannor - Frost
Domann - Riley
Jackson - Riley
Dismuke - Riley
Taylor-Britt - Frost
Bootle - Riley
Observations:
1. 65% of the starters are Riley recruits.
2. Why are only a small handful of Frosts first classes, a.k.a. "the young guys" able to break into the starting lineup. Frost started a lot of young guys at UCF. Maybe it's easier to do in the AAC as the physicality is probably not on par with B1G? Maybe it was that he felt no pressure there so they were willing to take more chances? I don't know. This part is the most frustrating to me - especially on defense.
3. Many of the Frost guys (with the exception of Noa and maybe Tannor) that are starting, are the best players at their position groups. Maybe this is the silver lining of the dark cloud of yesterday?
4. Not to take anything away from Hixson but it's scary AF that we have a true sophomore former walk-on starting at LG when we have approximately 42 scholarship guards on our roster.
5. Barely any of these guys would crack the two deep for tOSU.
Any other observations to share?
