Even though it's Final Four weekend. There is always time for some Husker Football news. Will Update once practice is over.

Early notes:

- Langsdorf:

“We are always talking about competition daily,” Langsdorf said. “They get graded on every play, their footwork, their decision and their throw and running decisions. All of it is graded. It’s graded daily. We have a worksheet that shows progress, but we are always competing and we haven’t made any decisions about anybody.”

Langsdorf said that quarterbacks are splitting equal reps at this point in the spring, and that there hasn’t been much intermixing of the groups.

“We’ve got the ability with four guys to get a lot of even reps, which is nice,” Langsdorf said. “We’re kind of broken up into two teams and Tommy and Ryker are working with the team and Patrick and AJ are working with a team, and they’re splitting reps 50/50. Everybody is getting a lot of work. I thought Ryker had a good day today, he made a lot of nice throws, he’s getting rid of the ball quickly and making good decisions in the run game and I like the way he’s coming along.”

- Brian Christopherson on Tyler Hoppes,

Then, boom, his named popped up unsolicited from Mike Riley after a recent spring practice. Nothing too grand, but worth a few lines in the next day's notebook. "We're trying to find out a little bit about Tyler Hoppes," were Riley's exact words. "I think he's had a good spring."

Tavita Thompson, who coaches Nebraska's tight ends, backed up that thought after Thursday's practice.

"He's so athletic. He does a lot of nice stuff in the route game. He's proven himself as a good (H-back)," Thompson said. "Obviously he's got some stuff he needs to work on. He's got to be a little more physical. But he can definitely grow into a real guy."

Brian Christopherson ‏@HuskerExtraBCRiley: AJ Bush had his best practice in a long time. On O'Brien, “This guy is probably ahead of the curve on quarterbacking in general."

SEEN: A couple offensive linemen moving early and getting whistled for a false start. Their punishment: A full lap around the football field.

SEEN: Linebacker Mohamed Barry staying late after practice for some extra work with defensive line coach John Parrella. Barry stuck out as he ran through drills near midfield. The other guys out there with him were all defensive linemen: DaiShon Neal, Alex Davis, Carlos Davis, Khalil Davis and Kevin Maurice.
