Cavanaugh loves Nick Gates' approach at LT. "He loves football. He wants to kick your ass and just block you. I love that."

How'd wrestling help Tanner Farmer? He was at 335 at the end of last season. He's at 295 now. Right where he wants to be. #Huskers

Notes and Quotes:

- Langsdorf, OC

"A lot further than we've been, in the past,” Langsdorf said. “They're a lot more comfortable already. We've got a lot of work to do in terms of knowing our reads and throwing accurately but I have been pleased the first three days about just their command and the knowledge that they have."

- Cavanaugh feels Foster is capable of "becoming a great player for us" but has to become "a better knee bender" and work on his leverage. "You just can't rely on your athletic ability without being in good posture and knowing about your technique."

Jerald Foster candid about why he didn’t play last year: “it was a lot about where my head was. It’s in the right place now.” #huskers
Lincoln - The Nebraska football team practiced for just over two hours Thursday in the Hawks Championship Center in full pads. This is the third practice of spring football for the Huskers.

Offensive Coordinator Danny Langsdorf spoke with the media after practice. He started by talking about how practices for the quarterbacks have been.

"A lot further than we've been, in the past,” Langsdorf said. “They're a lot more comfortable already. We've got a lot of work to do in terms of knowing our reads and throwing accurately but I have been pleased the first three days about just their command and the knowledge that they have."

Coach Langsdorf then touched on Tommy Armstrong Jr. and what he is expecting from him this spring.

"He has to work on being more consistent,” Langsdorf said. “If he can play efficiently and take care of the ball we'll be in much better shape.”

Langsdorf added that he wants Armstrong Jr. to work on cutting the turnovers down, making faster decisions and throwing the ball accurately.

Coach Langsdorf also talked about what he has been seeing from the players working at offensive guard, including Jerald Foster and Tanner Farmer.

"I think they are in really good shape,” Langsdorf said. “They feel like it is their time to compete and have a legitament chance to play. There is a great battle going on for those guard positions. I like how both of them worked hard in the winter, they're in the best shape that they've been. I just think they have both worked hard to get to this point and compete."

Nebraska’s annual Red-White Spring Game is set for Saturday, April 16 at Memorial Stadium, with kickoff at 1 p.m. Tickets are available at Huskers.com here, or by calling the Nebraska Athletics Ticket Office at 1-800-8 BIG RED.

More Notes:

- Langsdorf on Armstrong: “He’s got to make the throws we want him to make and not try to do too much.”

- Jerald Foster said some of his struggles from a year ago were because he didn’t completely buy-in to what the staff was teaching. Foster said he is much more focused heading into this year and that the light came on when he realized that if he were actually ready, then Nebraska would be playing him

- Both Jerald Foster and Nick Gates mentioned that Wilbon seems to have picked things up a level from where he was last year. Foster said he and Wilbon had similar issues with struggling to buy in, but also realized it was himself that was keeping him off the field.
