The Husker had a 100 play scrimmage today:

Notes, Quotes and Videos:

- Dan Hoppen, Freedom Akinmoladun continues to impress. He’s got great speed and acceleration, appears to have added more strength now.

- Sam Mckewon:

You get past that No. 2 D, though, and it's pretty rough to watch. AJ Bush and Patrick O'Brien both had good days but faced mostly scrubs.

NU run game had some moments today. Good push at times by OL, good runs from Newby, Ozigbo & Wilbon. Lower offenses ran it real well, too.

- Mike Severe, The RB rotation was 34, 22, 21, 39 and 28. No change, Newby struggles with OZ and looks good in ISO. Devine most complete, Wilbon quickest.

- Christopherson, Riley: "I think overall we ran the ball effectively today." Top unit had real nice 7 play, 75-yard drive where Newby, Ozigbo, O-line shined.

- Gaskins, Ryker looked good passing, putting ball in right spots. POB has good pre-snap presence but as Riley said needs to be more decisive.

Noticed McKewon mentioned he would like too see both Bush and POB get some snaps with the 2 team offense going against the 1 or 2 defenses to see what they are capable of.

It appears Ryker Fyfe had a difficult day throwing 2 picks.

My how Taylor has fallen behind. When he was recruited, I pictured him being a big bruiser and being big time, but that never even came close to happening. I wonder if he never fully recovered from his 2014 leg injury to be the same as he was before, a la Matt Herrian.

More notes from scrimmage:

- Tanner Farmer working with top unit at right guard. No. 1 O-line today, from left to right: Gates-Foster-Utter-Farmer-Knevel.

- Kaipust, Mike Riley said #Huskers expected about a 50-play scrimmage, but went closer to 100 inside Memorial Stadium. Liked some of offensive flow.

- Gaskins, Hey @RalphDBrown, you'll be glad to know #Huskers defenders celebrated the crap out of big plays & hard hits at practice today.

- The defense came up with four turnovers, highlighted by sophomore reserve linebacker Luke Gifford stripping the ball from running back Mikale Wilbon as the second-team units battled. In addition, defensive backs Avery Anderson and Reid Karel intercepted tipped passes from backup quarterback Ryker Fyfe.

I admit I thought the same thing, but I quess he has never recovered from the broken leg.

Good to see they put in some work tackling and having a game type action by having a 100 play scrimmage today.

I worry that is TA goes down and misses a game or more, that Fyfe will have some of the same issues he had against Purdue. Yes, he threw for a ton of yards and did some great things, but like many games with TA, the turnovers outweighed the positives and lost the game.

DL has to get the QBs to make sound decisions and not cost the team the game by throwing picks. If he can't, then he needs to call more running plays because that in itself will lose games as we found out last year.

You won't be the only fan worrying about that scenario rest assured. That is why I would like to see POB or Bush get some reps against stiffer competition like What McKwon suggests.

Guys at the scrimmage say he just is not as good or complete as a player as the other running backs.

I'm done with the dual threat QB. I want to see a polished passer and a strong play action pass game, which means a strong running game. Hell I'll take a game manager like Beathard from Iowa if it puts up Wins

I'm with ya. Let the running backs handle the running
